Good morning everyone, back from a wonderful holiday in newzealand. What a beatuful country. Three weeks wasnt nearly long enough, we saw a heap but plenty more to do. Sadly gave jo in nz a too smaller window and wasnt able to catch up( a big regret but next time!) only used free internet for emails so have missed all of you.
Gert, i admire your get up and do it, i would procrastinate about joining anything. What fun you will have. I love the bromialade.
How was Bali Uni and your return to Rockingham, hope i can catch up next visit.
Sorry for your bad news Marina,a blessing it was quick x.

We had a few power failures while we were away but no storm damage Denise.
Afraid to use anything from my garage freezers as my SIL told me the power had been off in that area as he could not get our garage door to open with the remote so he had to come in with his key. He said all power was out in the garage and some areas upstairs but he had no idea for how long. He didn't open the freezers but said that they beeped when he restored the power.

Welcome home MF and Bedlam. MF did you have much in the freezer that you will need to toss?

Marina, Sorry to hear the news of your uncle. Safe travels

I don't know yet Wonder as I haven't tried anything yet. There is no smell and the fresh meat doesn't look like it had defrosted as its not bloody if you know what I mean. DH ate some breakfast muffins before our SIL told us of the problem and he said they tasted perfect. Will defrost a shoulder of lamb tomorrow and see what it's like.
We are going out for a fund raising dinner tonight so no cooking here today.

I have had my freezer off for 3 days with no loss of food.

Thanks Gert I am hoping its all ok. Everything looks fine unlike last time when the smell hit us when we walked through the door.
That wasn't a power failure it was one of the kids looking for ice creams and didn't close the door properly. Now ice creams are solely in kitchen freezer drawer! As well as kids being told not to open the freezer without an adult.

There is nothing like the smell of a freezer that has been dead for a couple of weeks. It jumps out and greets you when you return home.  :-\
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.
