Many years ago we rented our house out for several years - when we eventually took it back we found that the beautiful parquet floor in the kitchen had been lifted and taken away!

Unbelievable!!!

Comforting words Gretchen, do hang in there DJ - you have come this far and held it together so I'm sure you can cope for a bit longer. Nothing ever goes as planned with renovations or building but no pain, no gain.  Perhaps you need a day out to get away from the mess, do you have a friend nearby who would meet you in a clean environment for a coffee.  Men are often not there when you need them but that's why us women are so strong - we need to be as we are often left alone to cope.  How are your kids coping with the mess?

Good morning all! :)

Just a quickie catch up before dashing out of the door. Have an 8 am slot to change tyres. Whoopie...should be fun ;D

Been super busy helping my DS14 who was preparing for his piano grade 8 exam. He couldn't focus much on the exam during school term due to the heavy workload from school. So it was piano boot camp in the first week of the school hols, and a super charged emotional roller coaster for him (and me). Life is returning to normal now that exam is over. Phew!

DJ, I feel for you. You are amazingly strong to have lasted so long before ranting. I would have caved long time ago ;D

MF and Denise, so pleased to hear that you're safely home :)

Mich, what a horrible experience with that tenant. YUCK!

The cheek of some renters, taking the actual, floor.  We rented for a while when we were in the bush but were very lucky. Our tenants were great. They were friends of friends. MIL house is rented but to my nephew. It is pretty crappy and he doesn't mind. The rent is appropriate.

DJ I feel for you. All I can say is hang in there. I can fully understand how it must get you down. Hopefully when you awoke the next morning you were almost ready to face it again. It will be worth it.

Hello

DJ, hang in there, as Gert said, will all be worth it in the end. You are strong. You can do this and if you want to rant more, rant away, we are all listening.

I understand your frustrations DJ. We decided to raise our house and build in downstairs all while I was 40 weeks pregnant. Thankfully we didn't have to live in the house for the majority of it. But we did have to move back in unplanned due to a major water leakage at mums when Lily was barely a month old. There were no blinds in where the old door frames were and my son was 3. That was interesting. But sawdust is the worst. We too lived in while the bottom floors were sanded urgh! I hope it's finished soon! It's so great to live in it when it's done. Ours is still to be finished. But it's painting that needs finishing and gardens.

It must be horrid for you DJ. Take Judy's advice and get away for the day with some girlfriends for lunch. Some time out and away from it all is much needed.
