There's always one member of the family that does the lion's share Uni but usually no-one knows just how much they do do.  I guess you've always known it but having stepped into her shoes these past 8 days will make you appreciate her even more.  I hope she is due back soon to give everyone a hand.

Our rainfall figures from my neighbour who measures daily.

OCTOBER       183.mls.

NOVEMBER      65.5.mls ( it felt wetter)

DECEMBER     142.5.mls   (all but 13.mls of this fell from the 18th – i.e. within 12 days)

JANUARY         151.5.mls  (so far ...!!!) Let’s hope it doesn’t outdo October..........

So, by my reckoning, we’ve had almost 22 inches.
And half of that since 18 dec, no wonder we are swimming.

I am used to living where we had 24 ins per year....

You've received more in 4 months than we did for the whole of 2013 here in Adelaide DJ.

That is a lot of rain for you  but consider this...the mean average rainfall for Cairns is just over 2000 mm. At least it is warm. Sometimes I sink to my ankles in the yard but that could be my weight as well  ;D :D

In the monsoon season which is now,  we have to empty the pool  several times a day and night otherwise it would be a mess everywhere.

Morning all.
GF,  why do things like that happen at the most in convenient times. !  Expensive also. You are a very creative person so will work around the problems.
DJ,  the cold and wet does get to you.  Hope the cow is OK.
Uni, I am sure that your MIL appreciates your company and help.  She is lucky to have both you and your SIL.  The boys are just being boys and may need to be told what is needed.  Have had this same conversation with a friend this week.

2000mm Gert OMgoodness.... That's 80 inches. Couldn't cope with that. No wonder everything rots.

Been out for a great curry tonight... With DD and our friend who is helping.
We had part of the kitchen wall patched with plaster undercoat today ready for splash back or tiles, so bit of a mess and I tweaked my back yesterday and have had a bit of a struggle today. Went to bed this afternoon.

Plaster has topcoat Tuesday, and on we go.

Hugs for Uni.
It is always the way, one child does so much, and the others don't do anything, or very little.
