I am  on don not call register, and usually only get charities ringing for donations.
I also pay telstra $2 per month to bloc all overseas calls in
My Thermomix,  Kitchen Aid, Pizza oven, Nu Wave 5 in 1, Spatulas, all brings love, laughter, happiness, and great food  to my kitchen.

You are all making me glad I have a silent number. I think some see the do not call registered people as a challenge.

We have a blocked number also but still have regular calls especially from people saying we have a virus on our computer. My DH plays along and then tells them to go outside and step in front of a bus.  As awful as the nasty people are I cant say things like that.  I do your trick Judy and hang up if there is a delay. Much easier.

I don't give out my home number when filling in loyalty club memberships etc. So that probably helps. We've not had a call in nine years.

We have a silent number too so don't really get the calls either. Very, very occasionally we may get one if they are using sequential dialling and they get hung up on.
Marie we had a lot of early morning crank calls at a school I was at. We kept a whistle by the phone and after a couple of mornings of a whistle in their ear the calls stopped. I think it was only school kids but they soon learnt.  >:( >:(

A lot of these calls are robot generated therefore the delay and a good sign to hang up.

A friend got one of these bogus Telstra calls.   She rang Telstra and they were able to say that no one from Telstra had rung her.
We had a funny experience recently. A man came to the door offering us a Religious magazine.  We said no thanks but because it was hot  we offered him a drink.  He was a nice person and we had a chat while he had a drink and something to eat.  He didn't mention the magazine again.

We are enjoying a relaxing weekend on our own  after a hugely busy last 6 months.
Enjoyed having our guests and a very emotional goodbye yesterday.

Hi Uni   :D  Haven't seen on here in ages. We will have to try and have a Sydney get together, although from my catch-up reading seems it's not long till you go to Bali.
