Everything is settling down here at last. DH is improving but still gets very tired. He was doing well and then came down with a diarrhea bug that lasted for 3 days. It was a bad time for him.
I went ahead and finally bought myself a new stove with an electric oven I settled on the Bosch that I had been looking at. It was my birthday present to me. The electrician is coming tomorrow to do the wiring. I just hope this one cooks much better than the old one.
I opened a cupboard yesterday to find that the mice had decided to visit. It's the first time in the seven years we have been here that I have had any in the house. I spent the whole day cleaning out cupboards and washing everything. I now have saucepans, food and bowls etc stored everywhere. Just can't catch the little devils.
Happy Birthday to Ral.

Mice love peanut butter ! Just store food in sealed tubs for now . If you find a hole in the back of cupboard, Jex is good to block the hole . Good luck .

Thanks Katie. I do have traps set with peanut butter on them as well as packets of poison in corners around the house. We couldn't get any Jex at Coles yesterday so DH is trying Woolworths today. One way or another I will get the little beast/s.

Mab, one of the joys of country living is mice . I have flat trays of poison under the fridges, butter dishes at the back of cupboards and a fantastic trap that is fully enclosed in the chook shed. We were advised when we had a plague at Cherokee to regularly change the type of bait used. It worked.
Really glad to hear that DH is on the improve. When RAL was so ill last year, the Dr told us to get used to our new life. We resisted of course. He also get very tired. We have settled into a sort of compromise. If we have a busy day, we then have a couple of days doing very little.
RAL thanks everyone for their best wishes.

Happy to hear the news is good for your DH Margaret, like Ral he will adjust to what he can and cannot do even if he doesn’t like the restrictions. Good luck with the mice and have fun with your new stove once it’s connected.

I’m pleased that your DH is recovering Mab.
Your new oven sounds lovely. I don’t like mice at all. We had them when we were teaching in the wheatbelt and when we were in Broome we had those ghastly big cockroaches.

At the moment we are sitting in the SUN on the veranda drinking our coffee.
We invited our plumber to share our lunch on Monday. He told RAL that in 30 years he only twice was offered lunch.
We are in lock down again , although officially there are no active cases in Ballarat.

I was wondering if Ballarat had any Covid cases, I’m glad that they don’t. Hopefully the lock down will confine things for Victoria.

Stay safe all our Victorian friends. Round 2 begins, hopefully it can be knocked on the head this time. I’d like to see my Melbourne kids before Christmas.

Morning all. This lockdown feels different. Probably because we thought we could see an end to the restrictions. It is disappointing that some people don’t do the right thing.
The weather is not too bad today. 12 max and overcast.
Saw a fox running across the dam paddock. Glad the chooks are secure.

Good news that your DH is on the mend Mab. Hopefully you will have some time to break in the new oven.

Its spooky that Victoria has had a spike in cases. Hopefully people will take note this time and also in all the other states. I heard Dr Norman Swann say the other day that it was only the beginning. I hope they manage to find a vaccination soon.

Cool but not cold. Max of 12 today.
I’m learning a lot about Solar at the moment. We can’t feed into the grid. Plenty of sun/ daylight in Summer but not a lot in Winter here. Apparently every Tuesday, at 4 am something switches on and uses power. .??

That's weird, Chookie. It would be interesting to find out what it is.
