Uni, hope you feel better soon. You wouldn't be the first girl to fall pregnant on a honeymoon ;) ;D

Kim, the very best of luck to DH tomorrow. Remember no matter what happens he has got through to the final interviews. I do hope he gets it for all of you.

Poor you Uni, it must be horrid. I have never been on a cruise so didn't realise that would happen.

Amy Labour Day was usually taught in Year 5 or so in West Australian Social Studies or it may have been called Society and Environment. Most probably the teacher wasn't aware of it, only the holiday.  ;)

LOL! You girls aren't teasing Uni while she's sick are you :D :D

Ginger is supposed to be good for nausea, isn't it? :)

I can't even remember what teacher I had in Year 5 Cookie ;D And from memory, we would only have one society and environment lesson per fortnight :o

Lots of people didn't enjoy teaching it Amy. As you know it could be pretty boring. In the dark ages I had a super teacher in Year 5, and then in high school a fantastic history teacher who developed my enjoyment of Australian history. The best part now is that I see all these places and love to re- read all about them.
Albany has an amazing history. You live in a lovely place weather wise too.

Yep, it was boring as bat poo :D It was a bit more interesting in high school, but not by much! :-))
You were lucky to have great teachers Cookie, especially in the dark ages ;D Most of the stories I've heard about those days of schooling are horrible :(
Would you believe that I learned hardly anything about Albany's history? I think the only thing mentioned about it was that the soldiers of one of the wars left from our harbour... :-\

I have to agree with you Cookie - I had fabulous teachers in primary school and they instilled a love of history. I grew up in north west Sydney and loved the history of Parramatta and visiting the Colonial homes at Rouse Hill.

Now living in Lake Macquarie it is another part of history I wasn't aware of. I live within walking distance of the old Catalina Barracks of WW2 and also home to artist Sir William Dobell.
