Oh that would be wonderful to hear Chookie, I love kookaburras except when they wake you too early in the morning.  What time do yours start?  You certainly have to hold on to your sausage when they are around Katj, I've seen the odd rogue bird do that but not a family of them.

I'd love to hear baby Kookaburras learning to laugh. We don't have any around here, but you sometimes hear them when you are in the bush or further south. Even the sound of a rooster learning to crow is hilarious, except when it is 3 am.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Good morning all!
Was woken very early by noisy #%$^in$ Indian minor birds on our bedroom balcony dodging the rain.  >:( Need a rifle as a (pest) bird deterrent here too ;D
It's the first day of the school holidays for us so I am taking it easy before the start of another busy week.

Good morning ladies, managed to get back to sleep after my earlier good morning to CC and Uni.
School holidays seem to be getting earlier and earlier, mine started this week but I know of one lass whose school broke up on the 2nd December  ???  You are right Uni about private schools.

The State Governments determine how many days kids are at school.
They also determine when the school holidays fall for each term for Government schools.  The private schools 'shadow' these holidays as many siblings may attend private and Government schools.
What complicates matters is that many Government schools hold Staff development programmes on school days.  Private schools hold them after school and in the week ends. So kids in private school have to attend the same minimum days that the kids in Government schools attend.   This relates to Victoria. It may have changed in the last 10 years , since I left the education system. Hope this helps

Interesting Chookie.  It does seem they attend school less but your explanation makes it clearer.
