Engagement party preparations. DD's engagement party is a champagne brunch so I made some plum jam and lemon butter to go woth the strawberry jam I made last week. Spent most of the day making a game called "Corn Hole". We saw some people playing it outside a pub in the US. It is 2 boards 60 x 120cm with a 150mm hole near the top of each board.  The boards are angled with the front edge 7.5cm high and the back 30 cm high. You set the boards about 8 metres apart and take turns throwing 'corn bags' trying to get them in the whole.

DW said her famous words "it won't take long to make".   :-)) I started about 11:30 and didn't finish until almost 4:30 and that didn' include the time I spent last night cutting and sewing bags.

Marvellous weather today - big, blue sky, golden sunshine and cool temperature. Just perfect for my boys' first taste of kayaking. We drove about an hour to Moore River, a pretty little spot north of Perth.

A sandbank separates the estuary from the ocean.

The boys had a fantastic time 😄

It's hard to believe that its almost a year since Geoff was so ill Judy. How time flies by. Glad to hear that you had a lovely time with the kids.

CP what gorgeous puppies. We bought our 2 dogs from there also and our DD bought one too. we often pop in with some of our GK's and always receive a warm welcome from Rose. She is lovely and does a wonderful job. You will have so much fun with your new babies  ;D

BZB gorgeous photos. We are going there tomorrow to visit our son and his family.a great spot for kids.

Thanks Judy. It's tomorrow we are going to Moore river. Having a wonderful time with our friends from Scotland. We went to Margaret river for the weekend and had a very busy but enjoyable time. We went to wineries, breweries, galleries etc and came home via Busseleton and Mandurah. They loved our south west and today going to Rottnest on a day trip.
We haven't seen them since 1987 but the years just melted away. We have just laughed and talked continuously and enjoyed  lots of food and wine. So nice to catch up and hear all about their family and old friends. Will be very sad to see them go.

I'm so glad to hear you are having a wonderful time MF - people can change over the years and sometimes are so different to how we remembered them so I was very happy to read that your relationship just picked up from where you left it.  I loved my trip to Rottnest when I visited Perth many years ago but never made it to the south east of your state.

That is really wonderful MF?  Old friends are the best friends. We are lucky if we have them in our lives.
