DH says thank you. We knew a couple of friends were dropping by ( the Birdsville Track friends) but then a couple of others dropped round. It was a lovely morning. I love the cloth, I stitched it when I was younger, listening to the football and cricket on ABC radio. I enjoy embroidery but time and the eyes don't allow mich of it.  :-\

Happy Birthday to your DH cookie. :)

I finally plucked up courage to go to the dentist this morning.   I am absolutely terriified of them and when they asked how long it has been since I last went they rolled their eyes.  I only need a couple of fillings and a repair to one tooth.  Not bad for 20 odd years between visits.  There were far too many nasty incidents when I was younger so I stay away.
The  man who said it can't be done should not interupt the woman doing it.

I'm the same with the dentist mab but have to go regularly as my silly teeth keep breaking and I need urgent repairs. I make it very very clear to them that I am not afraid of the needle but terrified of any other mouth pain. Until they know me well I keep reminding them, and I always ask for more injection if I even feel a thing. When it comes to dentists I am an enormous woose.

Happy birthday to DH, Cookie!

Took the boys for free game of bowling this morning, courtesy of RAC. They even provided free shoes 😄👍 I managed to embarrass myself in front of them. Rolled the bowl into the drain at the start of the game. 4 times!! 😁 Managed to recover in subsequent frames. Been a lonnnng time since the last time I bowled.

Thanks all. BZB I'm pleased that you redeemed yourself. I've never been tenpin bowling. I've only tried lawn bowls many years ago.

Really really peeved (and that is putting it VERY mildly) at the low life scum that broke into my Mum's house on Thursday arvo and stole all her jewellery that my Dad had given her over the years, the safe (a big heavy sod of a thing - would have taken 2 big blokes to lift it as it took 2 big blokes to get it in the house) which had more jewellery in it plus the deeds and un-replaceable old paperwork dating back to 1936 when the farm was started, all our wills, my 21st ounce gold coin and some other bits and pieces, birth, marriage and death certificates, Mum's passport. My daughters ipod (she was staying with Mum) was taken as well.

I know it is not the end of the world, but it all has sentimental value and now there is so much work to be done to replace all the paperwork - which is not going to be easy. All Mum has left is the wedding ring Dad gave her as that was on her finger.

Needless to say I have done a fair bit of swearing this past couple of days as we cleaned up the smashed door glass and set the house to rights again. I only hope the knobs that took the safe hurt their backs when they lifted it into the back of the get away vehicle and when they got it off it fell on their feet. Plus I hope their ears are still ringing as the alarm was going off while they were in the house.

The police and forensics came and they said it looked like a professional job (no fingerprints anywhere) and someone knew Mum had a safe, so now I need to sit down with her and work out who has been in the house in the past 12 months.

I just wonder why can't people get a job and support themselves? Why do they have to make it difficult for the honest person?

So sorry ladies, rant over.

Pathetic. What scums. My motherin  law was robbed on the day of her husband's funeral . Took everything which was nothing of great value but did include jewellery and her wedding ring.

So sad for your mum.

How terrible for you and your Mum. So upsetting.
I hope they are able to catch them and recover the items.
