Nikkit Well done to your DD. You must be very proud.
Thanks everyone for your kind words. It was not an easy decision but it was the best decision. On top of a heart murmer the Vet was pretty certain he had bowel cancer. There was no way to be certain without subjecting him to a plethora of tests and we decided that it was better to be kind to him.
We have had him for 10 years. He was DW's Aunts and we promised to look after him if anyting happened to her. Thought we were pretty safe becuase Grandma was knocking at the door of 102 when she died. Unfortunately Aunty Jean passed away within about 6 weeks of her mother at a reasonably young 74. I think DW felt that she was letting her Aunt down.
I took him home and burried him next to the lime tree.

DelightfulDen. Very hard decision but the right one for you all. No more pain for poor puppy and no doubt a great release for him . I would like to be buried by a lime tree. Daiquiris all around.

Its such an excruciating decision to make, and terribly hard for the person who has to take pooch to the vet and back. You did very well to carry out Aunties wishes and I'm sure you will enjoy some memories of him when you squeeze a lime

Have heard from Katie's DH, after her op this afternoon he said she is alright but feeling a bit sore and tender.
All the best Katie, hopefully you'll sleep well tonight although hospitals are notoriously noisy. xxxx

Had lunch out in Bendigo yesterday. Both had a pork dish. The cooking and presentation of the crackling was different and interesting. Pin wheels. Spok to chef and will give them a try. Let you know how they go.
