CC, that is rather special.
Mandy, what a beautiful Mansion.
Sarah, I know you have special teacher training, but have you tried the Catholic and private schools.
Yesterday was lovely and sunny so we decided to 'do' the bed.  I washed the blanket, sheets, wool underlay, mattress protector, and electric blanket. We struggled with the mattress and put it outside in the sun for a good airing. All dry except the wool underlay and it will dry today.  I make my own wool mix from Lux flakes, mentholated spirits and Eucalyptus oil. One large jar lasts more than a year and I hand wash all our woollens.

Yes, I have looked at non-government schools, but I'm a big supporter of the public system, so I don't want to be hypocritical and work in the private sector. I really have certain issues with private schools and it wouldn't be right to work in one feeling that way.

Mum used to make her wool wash that way Chookie. I cheat and buy Martha Gardners Wool wash. I hand wash all woollen garments and quite a few others too. Some that say dry clean only, I find that if I wash them carefully they are fine. Mainly DD's things.

Judy, it is a Sunbeam Electric blanket.   You detach the power cord and immerse it in the wash trough with warm water and wool mix. Soak for 2 minutes and then gently squeeze for about 4 minutes.  Rinse well and hang over clothes horse.
I did check the instructions on the internet first.
Certainly freshened it up.

I washed our bedding also Chookie, but used Martha Gardeners wool wash for the woollen underlay. I have doona, and blankets washed ready for our move next month. We had to get a smaller washing machine as my current one won't fit in the space, I have a 9 1/2 kg one now, it is great for big things.
Cookie, your daughter is lucky you do her hand washing for her.

She is Katj   ;D ;D

We don't use an electric blanket, DH finds they are too hot. He likes getting into a cold bed. I have my bed socks!

I find electric blankets and heaters too stifling. I like to fill up a hot water bottle for my feet. It only takes a few minutes to warm up then. Otherwise I get too hot and it's hard to cool down.

I love our Electric blanket and so does DH. We just use it to warm the bed up then turn it off when we get in. We also love our flannelette sheets in Winter.
Chookie, Victorian winters are colder than Perth, I would think an electric blanket a necessity. When we stay with youngest DS in Melbourne and it is Winterish, I use flannelette sheets that Took over there one time, because he and DDIL don't like them. They keep them in the cupboard for us.

We did 4 hours solid of gardening and trimming this morning. We got outside at 6am to beat the heat. We have a green waste verge collection starting tomorrow, so we didn't want to waste the opportunity. I am very stiff this afternoon.
