So sorry to hear that Chookie and to me diabetes is one of the hardest things to understand.  So many things you shouldn’t eat, Cookie does a great job managing hers so hopefully she will have some basic ideas for you. I was diagnosed early last year by a very young doctor but since my op it’s been impossible to eat much at all and I’ve had 2 doctors and a Diabetic Adviser tell me I am not a diabetic. I therefore just eat what I can and will see how future sugar tests go, at least I’m unable to eat cakes, bread and other things diabetics shouldn’t eat much of.

K Atie in your situation food is the last thing on your mind, I’m glad you’ve had a good talk to yourself and plan to change that.

Today I was diagnosed wit Type 2 diabetes. I have been battling pre diabetes for 10 years. Dr. has put me on pills, minimum dose.

I'm also pre diabetic and have been for a good while.  DH is also diabetic and is on medication.  i try to watch what we eat but my downfall is bread & cake.

My downfall is bread. I try to stick to 2 slices of SD a day, but DH does cut them thick and I don't complain.
I have decided that if I need medication, so be it.

We had a coffee run this morning with the old ute. Lovely to catch up with people. It was a bit wet in the ute but we love to take it out.

I have to agree re the bread, whether you shouldn’t be eating it or can’t eat it, without bread in your diet it makes lunch and breakfast choices so much more difficult.
You can’t and don’t let rain spoil your car runs cookie, catching up with friends is the best thing for us.
Today I went for a browse up a local shopping strip and bought a few clothes then this afternoon I had 2 friends visit at the same time.  Both came with many gifts, they really spoilt me and made me feel very special.  My kids arrived late today from interstate so that was the icing on the cake.

Chookie that’s no fun re diabetes. But you will find a way to enjoy food your way .
Tonight will be the second night I’m sleeping at mums . Last night we all had a call to come to mum as her breathing was not good . I stayed , the two carers stayed too . We are managing mum keeping her comfortable. Foe three hours I went to get food today , in the end one of the carers got us food , I could not leave mum . I asked her if I could sleep in her bed again, she raised her eyebrows and gave a little smile , bless her . We got a hospital bed for her yesterday she is more comfortable than the recliner now . Yes I ate and drank lots of tea and water .

Looking after people in their own home has certainly changed since I was involved with carers
K Atie, having 2 carers staying overnight would be better than being in hospital I would think.  Mum is being looked after really well with the 3 of you there for her, bless you all.

I did the shopping this morning.  The less I buy the more it seems to cost.

KAtie a very hard time for you. We are thinking of you.
I did the grocery shopping this morning too. My docket was much larger than usual so I checked it very carefully. No mistakes, I had just bought more than normal. It seems that many things run out at once.

K Atie, sounds like you are doing a great job.  Take some comfort in that.
Cookie, bread is a killer.  I’m still making it but give most away. I’ve made SD crumpets for breakfast.  I agree about the shopping.  Seems to be costing me double.
Mab, I was pre diabetes for years but it gradually very slowly increased.  The lack of exercise is what finally pushed me over the edge.

I went to the movies this afternoon with my SIL, it was a film about our football club.

The other day I was in an op shop and one of the volunteers was very chatty. She suggested I take Flaxseed Oil and by the time I walked down to the health shop I’d forgotten why she said it would do me good LOL.  I bought it anyway then googled its benefits that night.  I was certainly impressed with what I read so will continue using it.  I then found out that a friend had been taking it for 10 years, she’s certainly healthy enough and although she is turning 80 this year she only looks 70.  Apart from the internal goodness it does, I hope it works on my face too!

I use flaxseeds in my bread Judy, but that is all. I will have to Google the oil.
I did the ironing this morning and a few odd jobs. It seemed to take me all day.

Days in the garden. Lovely warm days after a cold spell. Hasn’t left much time for cooking.
Judy, must also look at the oil. I always have linseeds in the freezer .  Add then to bread an LSA.

I’ve seen my ENT Specialist this morning, all good there.  The other 2 appointments are the week after next.  Going out to dinner tonight for DD2’s birthday and it’s nice to have DD1 and SIL in town and able to join us.  Must google the menu so that I know what’s available.
Look forward to seeing your new blog Marina.  I know how much is involved in these things as DH, Mum and I took part in a 6 minute film about the nursing home a couple of years ago and the filming took all afternoon.
