I saw my new eye guy today, he’s a Retinal Specialist and I’m confident he will keep an eye on that problem but I was pretty pleased when he said he would remove the cataracts in January. I’d lost confidence in my previous Ophthalmologist.  He is just up the road from DD2 so very handy for me to stay there overnight when the time comes. The puppas were very pleased to see me after my appointment but one of the 3 cats strolled past without even a sideward glance.

That’s funny Judy.

I kept putting my cataracts off as I felt I wasn’t ready. I was getting some confusing messages. My specialist was lovely and answered all the queries I had and was willing to wait until I felt ready. It is so wonderful not having to have glasses. As long as the light is good I can read anything at all.

Well I couldn’t believe it when this chap said I wouldn’t need long distance glasses after the op but may need reading glasses. I just hope I can recognise the football players on the other side of the oval after this is done, I certainly can’t now. I have an epiretinal membrane problem so I don’t know how that condition will play out once the cataract has gone of that eye. I’ll believe no glasses needed when I see it cookie as I have worn them since I was 40.

Since my Qld visitor left I have found myself in a bed bug situation so I have someone coming tomorrow to spray all the bedrooms and lounge furniture which will be followed up another chap coming to steam clean those same areas. I think the spray guy will return after a few days and give it all another spray but my mind is pretty addled at the moment dealing with this horrid problem. Tonight I’m going to sleep on the settee in my TV room fully clothed and hope the little b…..s don't find me. I went to the GP but he was very vague, I think I knew more about the pattern of bites from bed bugs than him. He just told me to use a certain lotion to cover my whole body and I had to get one of my neighbours to come down and do my back. Had to leave it on 24 hours and do it again in 5 days time. OK that eased the itching and inflammation from my body but it doesn’t fix the bed problem does it!  Today it hasn’t improved so I told my exterminator to go ahead with the treatment.  I have done 5 huge loads in hot water so far today, I started at 7.30 am and my line is chocka block full so now I’m filling portable lines before using my neighbours’ line.  Tomorrow my DD is coming down and we’re going to a laundromat with the heavy bed linen.  This had better work, I wouldn’t want to have to go through this again.

Oh Judy, what a dreadful thing to happen. To think you have been bitten by the little buggers too. I can imagine how you feel. Obviously burning the house down isn’t an option.

Judy how stressful but you are on top of it well done . I was going to ask the same thing was your guest aware.
It’s been full on day , DH and went to Ballarat to collect DD car that was having a service and repair. DH had a thousand jobs to do , I was on the phone trying to solve issues . We had lunch . Took a Ute to be assessed for repair ! Collected DD car . Then I did food shopping and had to make more phone calls .. this was in a stationary car as no lead to connect phone . DS had picked up Ute that had a windscreen repair done during the day . He was home before all of us . It’s only going to get crazier.

No ladies, my guest has dementia so I decided not to tell her as she doesn’t need the stress. There’s the off chance too that she didn’t bring them in but I’ve had no-one else here who has travelled.  Today I spent another 9 hours doing what had to be done, another 5 loads of washing then finally being able to bring everything in and start loading cupboards and wardrobes. I was able to make up one of the beds for me to get a better night than on the sofa. On Tuesday the steam man will come and on Saturday the pest exterminator will come and spray again. He picked up 2 bug proof mattress protectors for the double beds and will source one during the week for the single bed. I had to stay outside whilst he did the spraying then for 2 hours once he finished but I could access the laundry - bugs don’t like hard surfaces so no spraying was going on in there and I can access the laundry from outside. I also found the time to pull out spent daisy plants down the side of the house and go across the road to dehead her roses. I now have a huge bag of clothes to take to the op shop and the biggest load of ironing I’ve ever had. That will have to wait a while, no hurry for what’s in there. DD is coming tomorrow for the laundromat trip, I needed all of today to do what needed to be done and can make do with blankets instead of my quilt tonight.

Oh Judy, what a lot or work.
I caught up on a few things. I made some no bake muesli bars, some biscuits, a fruit loaf and a Classic Loaf. Being sick everything got behind.

I vacuumed DD’s car and gave it a wipe over . Watered pots and fruit trees , it’s going to be a warm week . Not much sleep last night so a bit scratchy all day . Getting a little overwhelmed as DD comes home tomorrow night . DD I’d sitting in Heathrow right now . Feeling excited and not really prepared for a huge emotional week , DS has another Exam tomorrow and then one more to go on Friday then he is finished year 12 . DD getts home and so much to do , as well as her 21bday . M already overtired as not much sleep last night . Gosh I need to shake this off and be forever grateful how accomplished both young adults are today .

Judy, your infestation sounds horrendous.  What a massive job getting rid of those little bu***rs.

I am hibernating at the moment and trying not to go outside too much as the pollen count has been extreme the past day or two and I am trying to avoid taking antihistamines.  I do this every year - stubbornly fighting hay fever - it never works, I always give in and take the tablets!

Busy times coming up for you K Atie.  Your DD will have so many stories to tell when she gets home.

I give up quickly Marina. We’ve had smoke and dusty, easterly winds for several days. My eyes drive me crazy.

Well surprise DS arrived with DH to pick up DD ! ( DS was meant to stay home to study ) . The huge smile when she saw her brother was the best . Big hugs for all . DD sleep for the whole 14 hour last leg !! It’s 1.30 am and all still awake! It’s nice to have her home for a little while. Boys home in the morning… DS will study on the way home .
