It’s been lovely having Judy here. We have been trying lots of different foods she has introduced me to several different tropical fruits that I probably wouldn’t have tried. I hope I have stretch her recipe collection so she has more variety in what she eats.

Judy's little holiday sounds wonderful for both of you. What new tropical fruits did you try Chookie?
I did a little housework today. Yesterday we went and finished selecting the colours for the motorhome. They are all neutral colours so not a lot of difference between them. They said it may be shipped at the end of July. Exciting news. We have the chassis number and engine number for the vehicle.
Marina you are very brave. Maybe your foot won't hurt toooooooooo much. I hope the scan goes well.

I see Nagi (RTE) is about to release a new book. Open for pre-orders now (I think)

Cookie, I’ve tried Dragon fruit, a small orange fruit?.?.
Love the sound of the Motor Home. Very exciting.
Marina, you are amazing how you have managed with you foot. Hang in there.
I’m not sure what we will do today. There is a lot of Covid and flu in Ballarat and we are avoiding the crowds.

I love Dragon fruit Chookie. In fact I’m trying to grow it. They may have to go though as we need the space for the motorhome.
Marina how did you go with your foot?

Thanks for asking Cookie. The scan wasn't as bad as I had anticipated - I thought it would be weight bearing, which scared the living daylights out of me, but it was non weight bearing so there were no problems. Although I did take one of my strong pain killers in anticipation, just to be on the safe side! I ended up with a woozy head and shaky handwriting!

Best to be prepared Marina, even if you do end up with a woozy head and shaky handwriting.

... continuing the (mis)adventures of Marina.
On Sunday DH and I went over to have a lovely Sunday lunch at a local cafe and, on our way back, we stopped at the kerb to check for on-coming traffic when my knee scooter suddenly toppled over, with me on top of it. We think it got caught in a rut between a couple of blue stone slabs or slipped off the side of one of the larger slabs.
After DH and a very kindly passerby got both me and the scooter upright I noticed blood on the cobblestones and could feel blood running down my leg. Although my trousers weren't ripped, I had obviously managed to do damage of some sort (considering it was me, this was no surprise - I am very accident prone). Work/home was only 1 - 2 minutes away and we checked my leg when we got there to find a horrible deep gash just under the patella by the knee. So, off to A & E. We arrived around 1.30 - 2.00 pm and I was finally admitted to the ward at 2.00 am. The whole procedure took so long and it wasn't even as though A& E was busy, in fact, at any one time there were only 5-6 people who had been triaged and were waiting to be attended to. Admittedly, to be fair, a few ambulances did come in during that time.
Anyway, the staff in A&E and (eventually) the ward were all totally impressed with the damage I had done and I was operated on last night (Monday - King's Birthday weekend). Got home around lunch time today.
So, I now have one foot still non weight bearing, but flexible with a second foot fully weight bearing but, due to an in-built non-flexible splint, it is keeping that leg fairly rigid.
I go to my surgeon on Thursday who will review the foot / ankle operation success and, hopefully, allow me to weight bear, lightly, and allow me to stop wearing my moon boot 24/7. This weekend's effort leaves me with 6 week using the splinted neoprene cast before I know what will happen next.
Hope you all had a much better weekend than I did!

Marina did you go more than cut your leg ? And is it the good one ? That’s no good at all . At lest you were fixed up . Nice weekend we just need it to actually rain properly.
I was a little accident prone last night when cooking dinner ! I put the kettle on and the leaver got stuck , I rushed into kitchen to turn it off but steam burned my fingers . Ice block all night on two finger tips , painkiller then bed , finally stopped throbbing . Other than a few blisters all good this am .

Oh Hell Marina. That is awful. Are we all accident prone? Katie and then I jammed my finger in the drawer. Nice black nail.

Burns are horrible K Atie, I hope yours is now calm. I also hate jammed fingers, fortunately I rarely manage to do that ... so far, anyway!!
Re.the cut on what was my good leg but which is now my bad leg - several xrays were taken as there was some concern considering where it is, but the cut went down to the bone, and did not damage the bone or anything else, just the spectacular cut.

Boy you have some bad luck Marina, just what you didn’t need at the moment. You’ll laugh about it one day but not right now, I really feel for you.
K Atie and Chookie also had a story, well ladies I’m going to throw my story into the mix too. 2 days before I was due to come home, or was it 3 Chookie, I became very unwell and had to stop eating so that it would be safe for me to travel on Sunday just gone. Made it back OK without incident and was in bed within an hour of coming in but had a bad night with terrible tummy pains. Monday was not much better. This afternoon I started coming good but felt very weak due to lack of sustenance for 3 or 4 days. Luckily I have my Gastroenterologist appt early tomorrow morning to find out the results of a gastric tummy emptying study done just before I left for my holiday. I’ve worked out that after 4 years of very light eating my tummy was not ready for all the food I ate at Chookie’s, it took almost a week to object though. Now to find out tomorrow how to introduce new foods without upsetting the old tum again. I’d put on .7kg, lost that in the end plus some. It was a great holiday though and Chookie spoilt me rotten.

Oh gosh, you poor ladies. Marina I think you win the best/worst accident award though. Your DH will be locking you in the bedroom. Chookie be careful and Judy, it’s obviously a very slow pattern to trying new foods.
Please take lots of care all of you.

Judy was a joy to have around. Although her tummy wasn’t ready for the different foods , we had fun thinking outside the square.
GS and girlfriend are coming tonight to practice on Ral’s big coffee machine for my Probus Scone Afternoon Tea on Sunday. Should be fun.
