Working from home - had an electrician around to look at the down lights above one of my kitchen benches which stopped working months ago; wasn't an issue until now as it gets dark so early and I need to see what I'm doing in the kitchen. All 3 went out at the same time, tried changing globes, no luck. So when sparky came and I flicked the switch to show him they weren't working, imagine my surprise and embarrassment when one of them turned on! He then just jiggled the globes and got another one to work, still need a new globe for the other. Pretty expensive globe! Just about turned myself inside out explaining to him that no, really, they weren't working before, I tried them heaps of times  ;D Now I feel like a dumb female  :(
Expecting my brother to arrive this afternoon from Adelaide, he's staying one night with us then home again tomorrow. Kids are excited, I'm trying to figure out what to feed him - the man lives on junk food!

Deedub, I hope your brother didn't resort to takeaway - I'm sure a home cooked meal would be far more appealing to anyone who doesn't bother cooking for themselves.

The same has happened to me with tradespeople.  Called for an a/c repairman as it didn't work one year and blow me down if someone hadn't turned it off outside at the wall - probably little grand-kids, certainly not me.  $160 charge so they serviced it anyway and a good lesson learnt.  Another time GS fiddled with the Miele oven and I didn't know how to fix it, luckily for me the Miele man didn't charge me.  I'm sure there are other instances but what the heck, someone has to keep these people employed  :D

We sat chatting all morning and drinking coffee and cakes. This afternoon we went out fishing. The tide isn'tt the best at the moment but we did catch a cod about 45 cm long.

Had visitors, waited for my toaster delivery then did food shopping, visited Geoff, went down to DD's for tea and bought the young fellow home for a sleep-over.  We chatted the whole 30 minute drive home - on my part it was to keep him awake but in the end he asked if 'we could stop talking now'.  Phew, just made it home and into bed -  5 minutes later

That is a lovely picture Judy. Makes you want to cuddle up next to him.

Busy day too. Kinder drop off, school drop off, undie shopping for DH at target (apparently his aren't comfy anymore ;)), vacuumed house, clean both bathrooms and toilets, three loads of washing, cooking, throwing out DS6's vast supply of cereal box creations (just like you Jo nz :D), cooked carrot cakes and macaroni beef, school and kinder pickups, swimming and two games of netball. Phew day over. And DH has the nerve to ask me what have I been doing with all my spare time!

JD, next time something goes wrong with your Miele appliance call their customer service centre...they try to help you over the phone if possible. I have saved myself a few home service calls this way.
