Thanks Bedlam and Penny.
I have iced, arnica slathered and bandaged tightly to stop the swelling.  :) Still throbbing and I am having difficulty moving my thumb but I am ok.  :D

It is possible you have a Colles Fracture  Astarra. A very common break when trying to stop a fall with your hand. You should go to a doctor.

And. I would not have anything to eat or drink in case it is a fracture as you may need an anaesthetic. If you have eaten or drunk anything you may have to wait for 4 hours before they can do anything.

Sorry to hear that Astarra, you're always so busy that you need 2 hands so I hope it doesn't cause you any angst.

Thanks Gert - will admit the pain is such that the thought of eating or drinking makes me feel ill.  :-[ Tho I had a drink to take painkillers  :(
And I had never realized how hard trying to change a nappy on a wriggling baby using only one hand is!!  ;)

Might get it checked, will give the docs a call and see what they think...and if they can fit me in.... :)

Thank you all for your well wishes.  :-* :-*

You will almost certainly need an X-ray in any case. Can you get someone to take over home duties so you can go to a hospital where you will get instant service rather than your GP.? That would cut down on time.

So sorry to hear that news astarra - very inconvenient when you have 4 little ones.
Good that you have had it reviewed.

I am glad you went to the doc Astarra . When the swelling goes down I would go back and have him look again.

You are going to need some help, for a few days. Forget about the blessed  shower. It does not matter.

I've just hung my paint brush and roller for the day.  ;D

Such a big job doing skirting boards, doors and frames. It doesn't help that I'm so slow. The sanding, washing and taping seem to take forever. If you think your house is too small, paint it.

Two things that kept me going was that Kimmy is painting too and I was thinking of us painting together and I'm really pleased with the results of what I have painted.

On the bright side - there is always a bright side  ;D I sold a chest of drawers and a china cabinet on gumtree that were picked up today so that is 2 less things in my home.  :D

Great going Michele, I've given up painting these days and now pay an ex-BIL if I want jobs done in that area.

Nice to hear you managed to get into see a doctor astarra, hope things settle down as quickly as possible.
