It's where our hot water tank is housed Michele. Its part of our central heating system and the hot water for the house is stored in the tank there.
It can be a warm place but wasn't enough to get the SD loaf rising.

Thanks CC. When I was a little one, mum would put our underwear on the hot water heater for us - it was in the linen press. Our hot water heater is in the "cellar"/DH's work shop. Will pop the next loaf on top of the water heater.  :)

Walked Chance again this afternoon as DH,who normally does it, was at the dentist.I had to wear gloves as the wind was so cold.  :-))

I hope your summer gets more summery soon, CC, it sounds totally disappointing at the moment!

Spent a day in the kitchen but not the nice cooking kind of day.

Our tenant did a runner of sorts and I've been cleaning up. The oven was disgusting - I can recommend a product for your oven racks though. Oz Cleans oven kit. You put the racks in a bag provided and pour over the bottle of solution and leave for 4 hours or over night. The racks have been in for 5 hours and look brand new. I'm leaving them overnight because they were so bad with a few stubborn bits. It's an Australian company so even better.

The fridge was the heart stopper though. I was going to take the fridge out of the house but the tenant wanted to know if she could use it as she didn't have one. Of course I said yes, she is a single mum. Well she just turned the fridge off and left all the contents inside  :-X I wanted to take the whole lot to the tip but cleaned it out. No dinner for me tonight.

Tomorrow I tackle the bathroom and will pick-up the dog poop all over the carpet - will need an anti-emetic to do that. Then next week will think about the holes in the walls and the yard. Luckily it only happens every now and then and we mostly have excellent tenants.

I feel for you Michele, tenants like this you can do without.  You bend over backwards for them and this is your reward, it's disgusting.  Thanks for the heads up though of the oven cleaning product, I doubt any of us would ever let our ovens get as bad as your tenant did but it's always handy to know.

Mum's unit was a breeze to clean compared to what you're up against.  I hope you call some specialist cleaning people in for the bathroom if it's too bad.  :-* :-* :-*

Michelle, that is terrible, I feel for you and I can smell the stench from the fridge from here.  So sorry to hear that this tenant of yours was such a prat (for want of a stronger word!) - if you get a good tenant, they are worth holding on to!  When we were renting we always left the place cleaner and in better condition than it was when we moved in.

We once had tenants who stole the kitchen floor!  It was a beautiful parquet in NZ rimu - we were totally P***ed off.

That is dreadful Cuilidh, stealing the floor. Our tenant took the light bulbs  :-)) Hoping insurance will cover most of it. We have been in negotiations for months - once they offer to pay $25 a month to catch up it's difficult to evict them. As she has done a runner, the bond has been forfeited. Part and parcel unfortunately.
Clean up and move on.  :D

Mich  that is disgusting. Some people aren't human. How they can even live in the filth amazes me.

Michele, that is awful. I feel for you.
There are some good tenants . I fact most. Two stories. Firstly we rented a house to a research doctor from the Royal Melb Hospital in Melb. When he left we had to scrub all walls which were smoke stained.  He was a chain smoker.
Secondly, the same property was let to 4 young people who all had good jobs. One by one they lost their jobs. They couldn't pay the rent and slipped 3 months behind.  They left with the promise to pay back rent. Bit by bit the did so.
A bad tenant can be registered so that someone else doesn't have to clean up after them.

Today, had second injection in eye. First one was very successful. It is month by month at the moment but I am feeling very pleased. The whole process with the testing and preparation takes about an hour .

That's great news Chookie, any discomfort is obviously worth it.
