Judy, we have 3 bakeries supplying good SD to Ballarat.  It is very expensive, between $8 and $ 10 a loaf.  From a class of 8 , about 1/2 will continue to make it.
Today I will continue to feed the starter.  It loves this warm weather.
More time in the veggie garden. Planting tomatoes and Zuchinni and mulching the beds with the litter from Chook shed.

Got the keys for our temporary accommodation yesterday whilst we renovate / extend our home and shop  Went to show the apartment to one of our staff members, only to find we had been given faulty keys!  Will hopefully get working keys very soon as we have to start moving in in the next couple of days so that our upstairs area and workshop are ready for the builders to start work in 2 weeks' time.  We should be back here in our own 'new' home in 12 months.

Marina, that is all very exciting.
KAtie, RIR Chooks are one of the few breeds  that we have never had.  They are a beautiful looking Chook.  They will settle down as all new Chooks are flighty. I think they are a meat and egg breed where as we go for just predominately egg laying ones.
This sounds silly but I call to my Chooks when I am giving them scraps each day.   They now come when called. I can only let them out when I am working in the veggie garden as we have foxes.

DH ordered them the night before delivery and that is all they had available. I did look at thier feet and think they would be good for stock , just for a moment! No way my kids would never talk to me again . We have the same problem , Fox’s are too smart . Think these will lay much earlier too . DS hatches chickens this term , he may get to keep one . DD did the same and we only lost hers a few months ago .

Chookie, there is nothing wrong with calling your chooks.   When we were out in the country my DH would sit in the paddock with his 10 head cattle all standing around him while he talked to them.  I'm sure the neighbours thought we were a bit weird.  DH only need to call out and they would all come running.

I think it is quite natural to call your chooks. Like you Margaret, we always called our cows. They came up and received as bale of hay (actually it was a sheaf of hay) to eat and the milking cow came in to be milked.

Marina everything sounds very exciting.

KAtie, hope DSs chicken isn’t a rooster.
More gardening in the Veggie patch today.  Cooler and we had rain over night.
Still feeding up the SD starter.

Today we travelled a whole 72km. We left Nannup about 10-too much talking. Had morning tea in Bridgetown by the river and drove on to Manjimup. We are staying here tonight.
This was the morning tea stop.
This afternoon we travelled around Manjimup and saw some of the tall timbers down here.
