Agree, you should definitely hang onto your DH Astarra.
I first heard about the TM about 2 years ago. However, thought about it seriously (aka: obsessed) about it four or five months prior to actual purchase. I researched heaps: this forum, product review, youtube, newspaper clippings, internet etc. My DH was against the idea and thought it would end up looking pretty on the bench, along with the KitchenAid, Le creuset etc. I think I've had mine now for about 4 months now and am probably only using it once every fortnight (at best) and DH hasn't once touched it. DS2 loves it and likes to help "cooking with thermomix'. When TMX beeps to alert you that the cooking time has finished, DS2 will run from TV room into the kitchen just to turn the dial to off.

I read about them in a newspaper article then read a review in Choice magazine. Two weeks after that three or four consultants were doing a demo at the local market. We got a business card, booked a demo and before that demo had started we had already decided we wanted one. The demonstrator nearly fell over when we told her.
She had a spare at home so was able to deliver it the next day. That was October last year and I have used it everyday since.

I took a whole twenty minutes or so! My sister showed me the Thermomix and I bought it from her consultant who I never heard from again...
Changed over to the TM31 some years later, again, took me about twenty minutes.
Interesting reading the stories. As a consultant (who can't seem to sell a hot cup of tea to an Eskimo!) it's good to know how people come to make their decision. I won't rush anyone and believe it is up to each person to decide the right time. That's probably why I'm not doing very well. I probably won't even make my 60 day quota...

A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Love your story Astarra, what a sweet man your DH is
I came across recipes for them whilst browsing Spanish websites back in 2009, but didn't take too much notice as I thought they were just something you could buy in Spain. However as I saw more and more recipes, I decided to Google it and realised they were on sale in the UK, although not very well advertised. Luckily I spotted that they did demos in my area (occasionally) so went to one in June 2011 with DH - had to take him along so that he would be convinced
Didn't buy at the demo, but saved up and got one last October. Have never looked back ...

Lovely story, lovely man, a keeper for sure.
Took me several years. I heard about it on another forum I belong too and asked lots of questions, but the cost was way too much.
After another 18 months I started saving and eventually here am I. Not sure exactly how long, but LONG time.
financially it was now or never for various other reasons and I heard they lasted 20+ yrs and I thought I'd better make the most of it as am over 50 now. I asked for a demo, and made sure DH was there as he is great with machines. We both agreed it was a great tool.
Very pleased. So pleased after 10 weeks I bought a second bowl.
wished I'd known when family young.
Plus am thrilled to meet the colony of cooks on here.
Some things are really worth the wait.
