At last I can post to the Forum
« on: June 16, 2012, 01:26:31 am »
Hi my name is Helen, from Perth WA.  I have had my machine now for around a month after a couple of years of thinking about it.  I have used it almost every day and I can honestly say it has made me want to cook.  Previously I used to joke that I didn't cook, but reheated.  My food bills are lower after the initial investment on all the lovely spices that I now regularly use, Hadn't used them for a good ten years.  I am eating so much more fresh produce and instead of throwing out whats left at the end of the week, I just make a soup for my lunches.  There is one downside though, and that is the weight I have put on making all the lovely deserts.  So any body got any Weightwatches recipes they have converted.
 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hi Helen and welcome to the forum, I'm in Perth too, NOR there are quite a few of us here from Perth.
I child-proofed my house, but they still get in!

Hello Helen, welcome to the forum. It didn't take you long to lower your food bills and to realise the dessert/cake sections are areas to stay away from if you don't want to gain weight.  ;)

Hi Helen, welcome to the forum. Yes weight gain can be a problem with all the lovely sweets we can whip up in no time. You might have to limit desserts, cakes and biscuits. Or replace some sugar and fat in recipes like I do.
I add half butter half apple purée to cake and desserts. And reduce butter and sugar in biscuits etc :)
Now I don't feel so guilty when having dessert. But I probably only make dessert once a week or even f/night :)

Welcome to the forum Helen. It's good that you have lowered your food bill already.
The desserts are hard to resist. Especially when they can be made so easily with TMX.

Hi Helen!! Oooh I can so see myself having that problem in a months time. I'm still waiting for delivery of my Thermomix, can't wait to get started... Maybe give some baking/desserts to your neighbours? :) That's always a good excuse to cook! :)

Welcome Helen.  When we have visitors I always make 2 desserts.  There are so many delicious ones here.  I say that they may like one or the other.  Guess what,  they usually have both. ;D

Thanks for all your comments, have just started weightwatchers again so having to curb it a bit with the TMX desserts.  As I convert any weightwatchers recipes I will try and put the points values on here.  If anybody has any recipes they can recommend would be much appreciated.

Welcome Helen. I'm SOR in Perth. My only hints for the weight are, use low fat or skim milk where you can. I use low far philly cheese and also the philly for cooking as a cream. I often substitute skinny tinny for cream, but it does curdle some times. I also use natural yoghurt instead of sour cream.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.
