Back online!
« on: June 17, 2012, 07:46:42 am »
Since last Sunday's storm took place, we've been cut off from the outside world with no 3G network. No outside phone lines, no mobile phone, no internet.
You can imagine what it's like trying to run business like that! DH couldn't order fuel so had to stop seeding, couldn't get hold of his clients about spraying their paddocks, couldn't get fertiliser etc, etc.

On the plus side, my house is very clean and there's lots of cake and other food to eat! I've also started on my workshop. The builders made a hell of a mess when they put in the ceiling (damage from NYE storm).
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

MJ that is terrible. Glad you are all OK. I often wonder if I would be more productive without phone, Internet etc.

We don't realise how useful it is until it's gone. Glad you're back.

You do tend to do other jobs when these things happen - could have been worse MJ if you had no power as well :(

Glad to hear you are up and running again.

Wow I can't imagine what it would be like without any access to the outside world., even more scary would be having a couple of teenagers in the house who would be having severe withdrawal symptons with no internet!! Glad you are all OK.

Bet you don't feel so isolated now MJ, that's a long time without communication of any kind.
Glad you made the most of it with lots of cooking and cleaning.
I have been doing lots of cleaning but very little cooking the last few days.

Being so isolated is quite scary. Every time we have a cyclone it happens.. Glad you are hooked up,again.

It's been bloody annoying more than anything. We just don't realize how much we rely on our mobile phones.
When I first came to Nyabing there was no such thing as the internet or mobile phones. We used to think two way radio was the ants pants!
Amazing how life has changed in that time. Mind you, it has been over thirty years...

And the T.V. stations went off the air at midnight. The shops closed at midday Saturday. Our groceries were packed in brown paper bags....memories.
