A lot of piercings are just holes, and if you take out the piercing the hole closes over (except if you've used a stretcher) in which case you're left Iike a Bassett hound with stretched bits of skin.

I have 3 kids DS24, DS 22 and DD 19. I figure some piercing and / or weird haircuts is the least I have to worry about. Many families struggle with teenage children with drug issues or mental health problems so I figure a few bits of metal are nothing compared to the trauma and heartache some go through. At least mine are all in one piece ! And my heart goes out to those whose kids are struggling in the world.

A dear friend of mine's DD died age 11 from cancer so never experienced any of the things we fret over.....

Be careful what you wish for.
