Why did you need a replacement JD?

Because it just wouldn't go together properly Megan.  The arm which turned the paddle wouldn't lock into place - there are a couple of discussions about this in this thread.  The latest model is much easier to put together.

good doctors are hard to get into.  I am sure that over time you will get better at having blood tests with the support of a god doctor.  My daughter was the same she always used to faint at the sight of a needle and she faced the fear by aiming to be a blood donor which she has now done!!! She is 19 and she is also an AMY!!

I've been hoping each needle would get easier over the past couple of years GHM, but even though I talk myself into being really brave I can never keep it together My mum has suggested hypnotherapy to help with my phobia, but I don't like the thought of that

Amy, I think if your  problem is severe hynotherapy would be very good and should work well . My youngest daughter has two severe phobias one is of flying and one is quite weird, a phobia about people with missing limbs. It is called apotomnophobia!!! She has now had hypnotherapy and has recently managed a flight all the way to England, it was hard for her but she did it, a few months ago she would not have even considered it.

 As for the limb thing when she used to see a person with missing or fake limb she would faint straight out, the bodys way of shutting it out of the system.  She is now almost 15.  My Mum didn't help when she visited, she said that my daughter was " just doing it for attention". Anyone who knows anything about phobias will know that it is not at all controllable and certainly not something people do for attention!!!

I agree with GHM Amy hypnotherapy would probably help with fear of needles.

GHM, I agree that phobias are uncontrollable. I would love to be able to go into the clinic and have an injection or blood test without having panic attacks, but I can't no matter how hard I try. I get very embarrassed by the "attention" I recieve from my phobia of needles because its usually people telling me to grow up or toughen up.
I'm glad hypnotherapy worked for your DD. It sounds like she has improved a lot in facing her phobias!
Den, I think it would work too, but I don't know if I'm ready for it yet. When I think of hypnotherapy, I think of all those children's cartoons I used to watch where people were hypnotised and then their friends got them to do chicken dances and stuff It takes a while for me to trust people, and I don't think hypnotherapists would give me a few "get to know me" sessions for free
