I was about to start making my usual muesli yoghurt and berries when I looked at Thermothingy and though why not, so I threw all my breakfast ingredients in and made a smoothie. Finished off with a double espresso.

Trying to shed some kilos. I haven't missed the diet coke too much. Love porridge and fruit and vegies. Need to cut down on portion sizes, carbs (pasta, bread, rice, potatoes). Breaky is easy, it's the other meals I struggle with.

Amy: in your general research about happy healthy foods do you know what the best sort of 'breakfast biscuit' is? I get the weetbix multigrain but I've never done a comparison of the nutritional tables. I only buy the multigrain ones because I prefer the taste and texture. Would be very interested in any advice you have.
Thanks

Hi consumerate, I can give you some numbers if you like
Per 1 Biscuit
Sanitarium Original
Weight: 16g
Calories: 60
Fat: 0
Carbohydrate: 11g
Protein: 2g
Sanitarium Multi-Grain
Weight: 24g
Calories: 90
Fat: 1g
Carbohydrate: 17g
Protein: 2.5g
Uncle Toby's Vita Brits
Calories: 60
Fat: 0.25g
Carbohydrate: 11.5g
Protein: 1.7g
Uncle Toby's Oatbrits
Calories: 80
Fat: 1.25g
Carbohydrate: 13g
Protein: 2.5g
As you can see, most of the plain breakfast biscuits have a similar nutritional value, and they are a good choice for breakfast. Its only when you get into the flavoured weet-bix bites that added sugar can become a problem.
Multi-grain weetbix are great
I used to eat them all the time and I still enjoy them on occasion
Just remember to add some yoghurt or LSA for that extra protein.
Hope this helps

The Multi-Grain Weetbix have 4.4 g fibre per biscuit while the original have 3.6 g.
