Nigellas cocktail sausages
« on: July 07, 2012, 02:06:18 am »
I made half the recipe last night, served with chookies no fuss bread rolls, salad & odettes onion jam from supreme kitchen machines. A huge winner in our house.

Ingredients
100g ginger conserve, I used marmalade
100g wholegrain mustard
1 x 15ml tablespoon garlic oil, I use teninas garlic paste & evoo
1 x 15ml tablespoon soy sauce
50 cocktail sausages, I used pork sausages & twisted to halve them.

Place all ingredients in TM apart from the sausages, mix for a few seconds speed 3-4.

Marinate sausages in mixture for 30 mins in fridge.

Bake in oven or steam in Varoma. I bake uncovered for about 20-25 mins but you could try covering them, they might not brown though.

Really tasty quick meal.

Halex
Sorry no photos, they were being dug into before I could even get to the table.

courton - Made this with chicken and lamb sausages...5/5 from all of us. Quick, easy and yum! Thanks H.

snappy - Hally thanks for this recipe. I didn't have any ginger marmalade (but I am making some tomorrow because of this recipe!) and DH HATES mustard so I ended up using my home made BBQ sauce over the sausages and baking them in that. I can't believe I have never thought to cook sausages in the oven before?  Anyway - big hit with the kids and can see they will be appearing almost weekly here.

Gert - I just put my sausages on baking paper in a ceramic oven dish, uncovered for however long it takes them to brown. Sometimes I turn them over. Never prick them. Never had a problem with dirty oven.

DizzyGirl - I always cook my sausages in the oven. Healthier than frying. If the weather is nice DH will BBQ them. Had these last night an definitely a winner. Thanks Halex

Do you think we would like this please? We don't really enjoy marmalade.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

I think you will, it is ginger marmalade & its just a nice sticky subtle gingery taste. Even kids like them.

Hally i've never seen or heard of anyone cooking sausages in the oven but it is such a great idea.  Almost like a lightbulb moment for me!  I've obviously led a very sheltered life.
