Just finished reading The Dinner. Here he was talking about how much his brother and his family annoyed him and then he drops a clanger. Most unusual man with a very cold unfeeling family to match.

Started reading "Stoner" this morning which is apparently an old classic that has recently enjoyed a comeback.

Been reading freebies on the kindle.

Just read Lillian's story, by Sally Patrick gardener
And
The last telegram by liz trenow
And
The colour of heaven by Julia Maclean
And
The villa in Italy by Elizabeth Edmonson
And long time coming by edie Claire

They were easy reads while on trains and waiting in waiting rooms. Nothing taxing and the pages kept turning!

They sound interesting DJ. The kindle is so good for things like that. You probably wouldn't have bothered carting that many books with you.

That's a lot of reading, DJ, sometimes you just need something that you can pick up and put down again.

Yes the Kindle is great for waiting rooms and travelling. You do need a variety depending on your mood. I am loving my new Kindle White. Finding it so much easier on these old eyes at night and after a few glasses of.

The Kindle Fire is in colour although I'm not sure of the availability of services on it in Australia. I looked at it when it came out quite some time ago but found we couldn't use it to its full extent. I also just want to read books. I prefer the plain ol Kindle. I have my iPad for all the other stuff. 😊

I'm currently reading The Dressmaker by Rosalie Ham. An Aussie story. I'm about a third of the way through. It's ok. Good enough to keep going.

The colour is really only for the 3 recipe books I have downloaded ... things somehow don't look so appetising or interesting in b&w.   :(

I am sure I can survive without colour!

Marina do you have an iPad?  Well you have a computer so download Kindle on your computer or iPad and there you have it all colour cookbooks. Not as convenient but you get a better view.  I have Kindle on all my devices.

I am loving the features on my new Kindle Light and it is totally different from the Kindle touch I had and hated and gave to my GD? I have a friend who is going to get the Kindle Fire so may be able to review it

I'm a bit of a klutz with things like that, Gert.  I use a PC all day (and most other times as well) at work / home and didn't know I could download my kindle onto it.  Does it give me 'live' access to what is currently on my kindle, or only to those things that have been removed from the kindle a put into 'My Account"?  And, how do I get it on to my PC??  I know you are an iPad girl, but perhaps a non iWhatever person can help me?

Easy peasy. Go to Amazon.com and click on free reading apps. All there. Once you have done that then you can manage every book you have bought in the manage your content and devices. All the books come onto your PC. So much easier to manage I expect.

Any problems just ask.
