Just getting starting on The Handmaid's Tale
I've just watched the TV series here Marina. They are going to make a second series next year. I found it very difficult to watch some of the episodes.
I am slowly catching up on the first episodes of the TV series and, as usual, can't help comparing the book with the series.  So far I have found watching it on TV has helped me understand the book more, but also reading the book has helped me more fully appreciate the TV series.  Am taking my time reading the book so that I am more or less reading and watching the two concurrently.

Not reading but listening on audible while I am driving. The suspect by Michael Robotham. This was his first book written around 2004.  It is gripping once you get about 1/3 of the way in.

He started as a journalist, then ghost wrote 15 autobiographies, a few of which won critical acclaim. When he should his agent the outline and few rough chapters of this book and his agent shared it with some publishers at the London book awards a bidding war ensued for the publishing rights.

There is good interview with him by Richard Fidler.

Love this author too. His latest "The Secret She Keeps" is out now on Kindle. Was thinking about downloading but........I have TOO MANY!

The Handmaids Tale I read  any years ago and it was scary then. I binged watch the series and like you Cuilidh I found some hard to watch but look forward to the next series.

ATM I am reading "The Broker" John Grisham.

Have just finished Red Sparrow.   Interesting in the light of recent political developments.
Generally read the same genre as Gert.

I read and enjoyed The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society many years ago.  I didn't know they were making a movie of it.

Just started Conclave by Robert Harris - based around the fictitious election of a new pope.  DH read it and said it was excellent but it is still early days (pages?) for me.

I enjoyed that when I read it too Marina. I’m reading an Elizabeth George at the moment. I’ve got Jo Nesbo’s latest Macbeth and many more to read. I’ve recently read the latest JD Robb , and Dervla McTiernan (??) book as well as Kate Grenville’s The Idea of Perfection.
I always say I want to spend more time reading but I don’t. Only me to blame for that.

I have just finished Dan Brown's Origin.  I didn't enjoy it as much as some of his others.

I haven’t read that one Margaret.  I did read the others though. I just finished an Elizabeth George book and yesterday started one by Dana Stabenow. She writes crime stories set in Alaska. She is part Eskimo, (I can’t spell inu........!) they are quite different.

Thank you Judy and Gert. I realised that as I was reading last night Gert, but was too lazy to come and change it. 8)

Love those Alaskan stories.  They tell so much about the customs of the native people.  I was surprised that there was a strong Russian connection.  Really should have known as they are geographically close. Really read these stories for the customs rather than the plot.
