What book are you reading?

I finally got around to reading one of Camilla Lackburg'sbooks, and enjoyed to so much, I started another of her books - The Stonecutter. However, I have not been able to find it since I returned from Sydney. I have this sinking feeling that I may have left it on the plane:(
I will have to search our local libraries to see if I can find it as I really want to find out what happens!
I have strutted another book, but it's. to grabbing me, so I might try my new book club book - The  Coffee Trader.

I finished A.A. Gill's "table Talk" today.  Very funny writing - witty and acerbic - which had me laughing out loud in parts, but not really the thing for an absorbing read. More of a book for dipping in and out of for entertainment.

So many books on the bedside table and Kindle that I'm having trouble deciding what to read next.

Loved that book. I had a lot of belly laughs.  I am STILL reading Consider the Fork as I have had lots of other stuff to catch up,on. Then I am on to another St Aubyn's and then something light. So many books so little time!

Actually, it's more "true-ish".
It's a novel loosely based around the history of that village.

Yes - not completely factual.

The Derbyshire village of Eyam did quarantine itself during the plague, but the characters and story are fictional. 
I always enjoy Geraldine Brooks writing too, but usually get disappointed in her endings - she often seems to lose it a bit at the end.

I adore his writing - it's so lyrical.  That was a great book.

I loved The People of the Book too, but I hated the ending - it was too trite and almost a bit rushed. Like she got tired of it and just wanted to finish the book.

EmeraldSue, you inspired me to look for a book club in my area, and I joined one! Very exciting (and kind of a big deal for me - I'm a little on the anti-social side, groups of people make me anxious). The first meeting is on the 30th of April, and we're reading "Ada's Rules" by Alice Randall.

Jakodai I am sure you will enjoy it. The one I attend is fun. The ladies are all really friendly and respect your opinion of the book.

The reviews from people who have been to the meetings have been good, so that's a good start. And this particular club is one that started in London, and then other 'chapters' have been started around the world. I'm excited, so that's a good start.
