Wish Lake Macquarie library had Consider the Fork. Still reading A Year Of Wonders - marvellous true story about an English village that averted the plague.

I've read this one Michelle it is a good book. It really makes you appreciate modern medicine and hygiene. Also the sacrifice that village made to prevent the spread of the plague.

Jackodai, I hope you enjoy yourself st book club. I've read books that I wouldn't have chosen for myself - some have been great, and others not so much. However, it's interesting to hear how others react to the same books, and often we end up talking about something else entirely!
I'm really happy because I found the book that I thought I'd left on the plane, and spent the morning reading it. It's the first time in ages that I've had some time just to read and I really enjoyed it

I just downloaded a set of 3 books by Camilla Lackberg onto kindle.
The ice Princess, The Preacher and The Stonecutter. They sound really good

Just finished reading Behind the beautiful forevers. Based on true events and characters in an Indian slum. The corruption was worse than I thought and this book is an eye opener.
Am now into the 2nd chapter of Fingersmith.

Finally I am reading the second in the series of The Patrick Mellrose novels. Now knowing that they are autobiographical  I am paying closer attention and it is painful . These books are not for everyone but the writing is wonderful and the Author Edward St Aubyn  exceptional.

I just finished that book recently CP and found it very candid. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in India and yes it really opened my eyes too.

Just finished "The City of Women" by David Gilham.
It's a great book about a good German wife in Berlin in 1943 and how her life changes after she makes a minor spur-of-the-moment decision.  A pacy, well-written book with great character development - I expect to see it on the screen eventually.

Have also recently finished The Housemaids Daughter and The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry.both really good books.have often thought of joining a bookclub but I like to be able to choose the subject matter to a certain degree. I detest anything to do with war and having to know the backgrounds of wars. I'm also not into chick lit but more than likely book clubs wouldn't be either. Then, if I joined a bookclub and had to read their book maybe I wouldn't have time to read my own novels. What's others experience of bookclubs? Maybe I'll just join one to be sociable
