Anyone else read "Gone Girl"? Wow, what a read. I couldn't put it down. I can recommend it but you won't get any sleep. I just had to read & read until it was finished. A brilliant book.

Quite a few of us have read it and loved it but some didn't . I think I read it right through too.

Yes - I read it and couldn't put it down.  Not very happy with the ending though.  >:(

I am weak and spineless.
Added 2 more books to my Kindle just cos they were cheap.

I thought that was quite normal.  ;) ;)

This thread is very nearly an online book club quite a few of us have read the same books. I like the discussions and how different people feel about the same book, for example Gone Girl.

Ok everyone please can you help with suggestions for holiday reading ( kindle mainly) at end of May?
A title, Author and brief description so DH and I can choose which books to get.
Am always looking for good free ones too.
Thanks very much.

Following Gert's comments I started The Rosie Project yesterday - what a thoroughly enjoyable story so far - thanks for the recommendation, Gert.

I read Gone Girl for book club a few months back and thought the start was very boring but ended up enjoying it after persevering, I didn't find it to be a 'couldn't put it down book' like some others though. The book club discussion of it was great though and we were all a little surprised by the amount of discussion. We are reading The Real Katie Lavendar now which is a nice easy read but not my type of book. Next on our list is the The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul.

I enjoyed Fingersmith to the very unusual end.  :D

Now reading The Language of Flowers, which has got off to a good start and am enjoying so far. Must look into the Rosie project and see what it's about.

I've just finished "Touch and Go" by Lisa Gardner. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Now I have to choose what to read next.

Just finished "Calling Out For You" by Karin Fossum (or The Indian Bride as it is also known as).
Not full of graphic violence and sadistic psychopaths like so many of the Scandinavian thrillers - but a well written, well paced mystery with great characters. Loved it.

Courton - how did you enjoy City of Women?

I tried out my first book club this week. A bit disappointed, the book was hardly discussed - on the bright side if I ever need turf, I have a contact  ??? ;D
