Thermie is knocking!

A few weeks ago our TMX was making knocking sounds. It sounded like it was coming from the motor because the knocks were always going at the same speed as the motor.
It hasn't done it for a while, but it is doing it again now while I'm trying to steam our dinner, and its worse than before.

I was just wondering whether anyone else has experienced something like this, and what they did about it?

That does sound a bit odd Amy, is your TM still under warranty ? I think I remember you dying that you have had your TM for a couple of years

My DD's TMX is sounding off with error 23 She,is resting it  at the moment hoping for the best but I don't know .

Will have to check about the warranty Mandi. We have had our TM for a few years but I haven't died yet

Amy - does it make the noise when you have the steaming basket inside the bowl?

YES!!! Nikkit, how did you know?

I've had a knocking noise with the steaming basket inside so I presumed the blade section was hitting the bottom of the basket after reading on here that it can do so if the basket is not inserted properly.  I just readjust the basket, try it it again or again until I get it right and the noise stops.

We readjusted the basket five times, Judy. We even took everything out and reassembled the entire TMX again

I will trying cooking something in the steamer basket today and see if it makes the noise again

Do you have 2 baskets Amy?  I sometimes wonder if the one that came with my second bowl is the one causing the trouble in my first bowl.  Of course they both get put in the same cupboard so I wouldn't know which is which now.  I did swap them over once when the noise wouldn't stop and then it did so maybe I am right in that assumption.

Yes, we do have 2 baskets Judy... not sure where the other one is though

Since we are having our renovations done and don't have much storage space, things get put in weird places just to get them out of the way

Amy, check the underneath of the basket you are using when it makes the knocking sound. I think you'll find that it is the blades hitting the bottom, so you might even have little bits missing from the bottom of the basket.
If you do have another basket, try it - when you can if reno's are happening.
Or place the basket into the bowl with the strainer bit furthest away from you and the bit where you put the spatula hook into closest to the handle - north south - if that makes sense?
Try it again, but if it still knocks then you'll need to call your Consultant or Head Office and get a new basket.
