Cake decoration store in PERTH
« on: July 13, 2012, 11:49:10 am »
Hi i amusing my tmx to make lots of cupcakes lately. Just wondering if anyone know any good cake decorating store with good range and reasonably cheap prices???

I just want to make the cupcakes look prettier. So i would need glitters, sprinkles, icing kit, colour etc.

Or if anyone know any online store that have plenty of discounts?? I get overwhelmed trying to browse the online stores one by one. There are so many of them.

Plus i have no idea yet what i need as beginner. So just watching the pictures from online store sort of overwhelming. There are hundreds of varieties of sprinkles, glitters, etc etc.

And being online, the photos all look equally attractive. If anyone who is veteran in cakes/cupcakes decorating, can u point me what i need for a basic startup?? Like which icing colours are best? Should i buy sanding sugar or glitter dust? It's a confusing cupcakes world out there...
Cant wait to start decorating... 😊😊

I find Kitchen Warehouse  has quite a few bits and pieces.  Maddy would be a good person to help you.

There is a weigh n pay at Woodvale shops - if you can go in on a week day when they are not super busy you will get heaps of attention and ask all the questions you need. I haven't been to many cake decorating places but in my opinion they have a good range and the lady I spoke with (about my daughters 2nd bday cake) was really helpful

Cake tins and things at Balcatta, but if you have kids don't take them. I would probably go to weigh and pay last time I was there she had a good range for cupcakes.
I child-proofed my house, but they still get in!

Ardon my ignorance ladies, but what is exactly can i buy with weigh and pay?? Do they actually sell glitters and sprinkles by weight??? So far i only saw them in this mini containers and cost like 10$ a pop. Is it cheaper to buy by weigh n pay??

Please educate me, ladies. I am much obliged. 😊

I was looking for a Wilton bit and I went to this grotty little place in Balcatta who had nothing. Wouldn't bother going there - horrible, bad service. I ended up picking up the bit from (um name escapes me ATM but it was at Garden City, Booragoon - a kitchen place)

Weigh n pay have dried goods like flour etc that you 'weigh' then pay hehe but their glitter and gels etc are in little tubes or cake toppers you can buy 'each'. Hopefully I have explained that ok, a bit sleep deprived. If you go there be careful of the lolly and chocolate section, very tempting *mmm dark choc coated cranberries*

Oh ok. Thx a lot kath. Now it makes sense. Was a bit puzzled yesterday. I find baking soothe me when i am stressed. Although my DH is not that into sweets. So ends up eating most cakes, cookies, cupcakes etc by myself. Mostly go to my thighs and bottom. Which lead to more stress, and then more baking.... It is a vicious cycle!!  😥😁

Yes CP i think i went to that place in balcatta my first time last week. It is quite small. But already very overwhelming for me to browse such range. Didnt know where to begin... What to buy at the start. Or even if that place is moderately priced or expensive. Ended up not buying anything after an hour there 😌

Frazzled mum is there a Kitchen Warehouse any where near you? Even have a look under cake decorating in the yellow pages and see what places are near you.
For your cupcakes a swirl of buttercream icing on the cake and it will look lovely.

I am NOR. I think i might check out kitchen warehouse. I went there once, although didnt pay attention to the baking section. Was looking for a casserole pot.
So will go back again to check the range. Thx :)
