Popcorn Cauli
« on: July 15, 2012, 08:35:40 am »
This is my new absolute favourite (dairy free) way of eating cauliflower

1 head of cauli cut into pieces about ping pong ball size
2 - 3 tbs olive oil (am yet to try it with just a spray of olive oil)
a really good grinding of sea salt

After washing the cauli cut into pieces, toss liberally with oil and salt. Place in preheated hot oven for approx 1 hour, turning about half way through, let the cauli go really really brown on the edges, serve and enjoy (and try not to eat the whole cauli yourself) YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

I did some of this tonight. I made the pieces smaller and cooked them for nearly half an hour at 180. They had little brown edges and were really delicious. I agree that it is the best way to eat cauliflower.

Is the finished product firm or soft Cookie?  Most unusual way to cook cauli but sounds as if it is worth a try.

Mine is firm Judy. We had it again tonight. I use EVOO spray and a little grind of salt. It's very nice, not like a vegetable at all.

The main bit of the cauli is firm (not like boiled or steamed cauli) and then the endy bits of the flowers are sort of popped and crispy crunchy.

I find mine needs the hour (or a zap for about 5 mins) to be wonderful but then I do do it at almost ping pong ball size

Unless I'm making a curry or soup, roasted is the only way I cook cauli now, I tend to cut it up a lot smaller and cook for 20 ish mins, will try this next time as I wouldn't say mine is crispy crunchy, and that sounds even better!

We like our vegies fairly cooked Judy and I haven't had any complaints so far. I break mine up into little flowerets. I'll take a photo next time. When you have the oven on, try a tiny bit.
