Lexi I haven't used my Kenwood to make bread for years. I used to do it by hand before TMX as I find kneading dough very relaxing.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

At the last farm yes, depends on quality and variety etc.
Don't know about here yet. Have you ever used triticale for bread?

Hope you meant to type MEP, Lexi? Anyway, in case you did, I have only made play dough (once only and that was earlier today) and the pizza dough in TMX. I have used the KitchenAid for all other dough/baking work. In my humble opinion, KItchenAid is a far superior machine because that's what it's designed and made for. Hence, for just a stand mixer, it is rather expensive. TMX tries to do too many things, and some very well and some not so well, in my view.

You only have to look at the dough hook that comes with the KitchenAid and compare it to the blade of the TMX to see the difference. I have made play dough by hand in the microwave several times before and it's a beautiful dough. Earlier today, I made play dough in TMX and it came out all crumbly (because the blade cuts the dough). The dough didn't actually come together until after a fair bit of hand kneading. I may have done something wrong, but I don't think so.

Anyway, if you are considering purchasing a KitchenAid, I would suggest going to a department or kitchenware store and looking at all the attachments that come with the KitchenAid. Just the sheer weight of the machine is also impressive. For the record, I am not affiliated with KitchenAid and will not receive any kind of financial incentives for recommending it.

Hope that's of some assistance. :)

MEP, I've made a couple of batches of playdough for the grandkids and have had no trouble at all. Have you seen this thread where faffa posts a successful recipe?

I hadn't seen that Judy so thanks. However, this was how I made it as the recipe that's in my EDC is the same as that posted by Faffa. The recipe said to knead for 1 to 2 minutes so I kneaded for 2 minutes. The mixture was all crumbly but it did come together after a good knead by hand on the pastry mat like I said.

MEP,  I agree that TMX can't do everything.  However you name a bread and I can work out how to make it successfully in the TMX.
