do you buy groceries online
« on: July 25, 2012, 05:16:02 am »
Does anyone buy groceries online, like Coles or WW.
I am thinking of doing this say one big order once a month.

Then just pick up fruit, veges, milk in between.

It would save me 1 1/2-2 hours per weekend.. :)
My Thermomix,  Kitchen Aid, Pizza oven, Nu Wave 5 in 1, Spatulas, all brings love, laughter, happiness, and great food  to my kitchen.

I do with WW, what I love is that they they deliver it straight to your bench, if only they put it away for me and then it would be perfect. It does save a lot of time generally about 2 and a half hours

I have a couple of times but then I started to compare the prices in the shop to prices online ( I saved receipts from shopping and went online to check the prices ) and discovered some items can be $1-$2 more expensive online.  If you then factored in the delivery fee, I think I was better off by about $35 by going to the shop.  But I suppose it depends on how you value your time and how far away the shops are, petrol etc.

I did love the service though.  If I was sick or couldn't get to the shops I would definitely use it again

If I worked full-time like you Robyn I would definitely consider it. As it is, I have plenty of supermarkets nearby so can't really justify it. I do use Aussie farmers for weekly milk/bread/juice deliveries though.

I did when my foot was in plaster, was very handy :D
I still prefer to go in to the supermarket to do my shopping though.

Are they good Hally? Do you count this in your $100/ week for food?
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Does IGA do online shopping..

Thanks, we have WW 20 minutes from us, plus the roadworks at the moment, so 25 minutes drive each way.
Then it takes about 20-30 minutes to shop.

Yes I do include my aussie farmers, they are the highest spend for me.

This week I have the veggie box coming, its $26 full of seasonal veg, then on top of that I have ordered fruit & some more veg. Its all australian products, good quality & the seasonal boxes are good value, pick n mix about the same as the supermarket but the boxes are great value. The do fruit, veg & a mixture, I alternate. I costed out a fruit & veg box at the supermarket and it was nearly $20 more.

I get milk, free range eggs etc

Hi Yes I do online grocery shopping regularly, one of the time savers I put in place when I went back to FT work.  I think it is especially good for the bulky items which I hate carrying back from shops and unloading into car, so when I shop online I order the bulky stuff and stock up on the items that are on special.  WW online is the one I use and there is a good search function where you can browse through what is on special in the whole store and I choose those first. Well worth the $5-9 (depending on what your sepnd) for delivery fee.

The catalogue specials are the same in store or on-line and I agree it's very convenient if it's too wet or too hot or I just can't be bothered or one of the kids isn't well so many excuses to shop on-line  :)

Hally, that's interesting about Aussie farmers, I always thought they seemed a little more expensive. We have CERES which is a not for profit envrionment education cetnre and urban farm which now has an organic fruit and vegetable pick up point just near me that I was thinking of trying, but just haven't got around to it yet.

closest Aussie farmers is Brisbane, so my only choice is WW online.
