I use a hand operated MagiCan which I've had for years Nazar.  My DD has something down at her place that I cannot figure out for the life of me (she has lots of stuff like that  :-))) but even with mine which works beautifully, it seems to be taking me longer to get around the can than it used to.  I am wondering if I need an electric one so I will be interested in people's responses to this question. I have the perfect spot for an electric one, hidden inside an easily accessible appliance cupboard where my digital scales are permanently plugged in.

I just had to reply to this thread, as for one, I love my OXO Good Grips can opener! And two I haven't been able to help out with any other thermy questions/recipes etc as my TMX arrives tomorrow, so this reply helps me feel like I can start to repay all the hints I've received so far!!!

Back to the can opener....it was a little on the expensive side [fifty aus dollars] but it leaves the edges super smooth (great for pencil tins for school -I'm a teacher) and is easy to use. My mum is borrowing it at the moment as her arthritis has flared in her wrists, she has liked using mine so much she will buy her own.
Hope this helps

I have a Tupperware one, we went through so many opening dog food tins but have had this one for years now, it too leaves a smooth edge.

Ihave a $10 I bought a K Mart. It is battery operated and you just sit it on top of the can and it  whizzes around  all by itself..

I second the OXO goodgrips one.  No strain on the wrist, I've had mine for 15yrs and still works well.  I talked my parents into getting one recently when theirs died and they too are very happy with the OXO goodgrips one.  Here's one for $22.95

I have had the Tupperware one for years, easy to use and leaves no sharp edges.

I like the idea of the can openers that leave a smooth edge. Mine is easy to use but leaves a sharp edge.

I have an electric one - I love it and if it died on me I would get another straight away. I have had it over 7 years now and it is still going strong. I would reccomend them to anyone.  :)  Can you tell I love my electric can opener???  :D

My $10 K Mart  battery operated thingy . After it opens the lid sticks to it. I think it is funny and was surprised it even worked. If it runs out of Batts I will have to see just what the inside is like and what batts it takes.

If you are buying a hand operated one I would but a vey good one even if they are expensive at least they will last.

Gert

That is my kind of can opener  ;D

The one I have at the moment is useless, I always spill the liquid from the tuna cans and I hate that.
