Great news, sounds like he is on the mend.  Hopefully your little baby will be home with you tomorrow.

We have recently had the honour of having a little tawny frogmouth adopt us.
He turned up one morning sitting on our front light, The next morning sitting on our screen door.
This continued with him ignoring our activities during the day and then he went off to hunt at night.
Things progressed to the point I now feed him on the mornings he is here with a poached egg.
He decided at one time he needed it check out our 'nest' and came inside and flew around for a while prior to going hunting.
He is just the cutest bird and the dogs seem quite ok with him being here.
Hugh has put a branch perch outside our front window to give him a bit more comfort and so we can see him during the day.

We call him Froggie Ooomah.
Froggie is not very original   :-[
Oomah is the sound he makes when he sees me with his bowl of egg.   :D

How lovely for the whole family to have this special visitor pop in and out.  Looks like he loves the log which was put up for him.

Dede, after reading your list of foods for Cookie, I have a query about suitable bird foods and hope you can help.

I was given a bird feeding tray as an Xmas gift and will use it in the winter when there is less food around.  We have a mixture of birds in our garden - from rosellas to blue wrens (as well as the odd owl), so quite a range to 'cater' to.  I know some of the commercial seed mixes are really inferior quality and I can't help but feel if I go to a pet shop they won't necessarily know the difference.  Do you know of a good all-round mix - or should I simply make up my own and, if so, what is the best combination of seeds / grains?

Thanks very much for ay help you can give me.

That's a hard one Cuilidh as I buy my seed in bulk from animal tucker box (do you have an animal tucker box where you live)
I guess as your catering for lots of different birds you would need a wild bird mix maybe? Or maybe just a small parrot mix would work well as there would be something to suit most birds in it.
I do suggest you don't buy the cheap and nasty brands, the quality in the seed is obvious from first glance. :)
