My darling boy has done it again. Rambo's already had one operation where he had a diaphragmatic hernia after being run over; he fell off the back of the ute and was rushed to the vet; he got chemical on his paws and had a seizure and was rushed to the vet;he became dehydrated after being with DH all day and was rushed to the vet; he jumped off the top deck of the sheep truck and was rushed to the vet.

The vet is a 200km round trip.  :o

The last vet trip was to Perth because he'd fractured and dislocated his elbow and torn a ligament from the bone along with part of the bone. He's been recovering from this for three weeks and we've been trying to keep him quiet and confined. He escaped and jumped the back fence, then ran off when a visitor opened the front door. He's now shifted the dislocation and is in the vet overnight. We will hear from the Perth vet in the morning after he views the X-rays. If it's another operation we have a heart breaking decision to make... :-\
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Poor Rambo,  don't think you have a hope in hell of keeping him down MJ.  It must be a huge problem for you with the vet so far away.  I hope the news is not bad, fingers crossed for you.

Clearly a Rambo  he ain't . Poor  puppy has sufferered  so much  in his short life.  Yes MJ a very hard decision.  I fear Rambo has  had his time and  and  in A few years on will suffer all the more for all his injuries . In his dotage he may have more pain along with arthritis.

Wonderful doggie but  he may be more comfortable playing  with his mates  in doggie heaven where there is surely no pain.Whatever  decision you make will be the right one for you.

Sorry to hear MJ...i hope rambo will be fine without surgery.. If not.. The difficult decision will be there at some point.. We went through those decisions 3 times in 4 years and it still breaks my heart reading your story about rambo....  We are facing the same with 12 yr old zeno..  He has pemphygus (google it to see pictures.. It is a horrible disease.. He is rejecting his own skin) and needs cortisone everyday.. We need to increase his daiky dosis, but now he gets sick, because his body also can not take cortisone.....  So after the joy of welcoming Luka to our family we may have to go the way we all fear the most with zeno..  I feel for you.. MJ. Feel free to message me whenever you.feel like. X

So very sorry to hear about Rambo and Zeno.  Pets are such an important part of our families and lives and when the time comes to have to make the final decision it is heart wrenching.  Thoughts and hugs to you all.

Stef that is sad for Zeno. Horrible as you say. Cortisone is a poisoned chalice drug.. We love our pets so much and are blessed to share their  short lives. Having to say goodbye is hard but seeing  a pet at rest with no pain  can be  a privilege they would thank us for I am sure.
