Thanks KatieJ. I think they could be good pets for us, especially with regards to allergies we have in the family (bith DH and DD have asthma). Stef, I know the problem with Greyhounds abuse, here in Ireland, they do lots of greyhound racing and I heard of terrible stories about what happens to them when they're too old to race. I'll get in touch with animal shelters to find out more about them...

I wonder if it would not be better to just forbid those races, since all those gentle dogs are murdered or abused when their owners are done!!  I think those peoples are criminals... Why are animal care, organisations world wide not working politicians in order to stop this?

.   Our 10 month old Yorkshire terrier Truffle. My avatar picture is of our previous dog Bonsai who was an Australian Silky. When he died last year we didn't think we wanted another dog but we missed having one around so much. Now we have all the hassles of a baby (he's already managed to break a leg doing a superman impersonation!) all fixed now 😊

Here is a photo of two of my pets from several decades back:
Khan, the Great Dane and Rebel the Chihuahua  - Big as he was, she pushed him around something fierce.

And this was my special love, Teafer, who was my constant companion for nearly sixteen years and was a genius at figuring out how to get into refrigerators, microwave ovens or anything that contained food.

And this is Aston, who is now my constant companion and owns more toys that most children, very playful but not as smart as Teafer.

This is my daughter's cat' Midnight.

She likes to 'help' me while I'm working from home by sitting on my mouse and climbing onto my lap when I'm on the phone or trying to type. My other daughter would love a rat or mouse. I quite like the idea of a pet rat, just don't think it's a good idea with a cat around. I've told her we'll adopt a dog one of these days - I don't do puppies!
