Coffee Machine

I am lucky here to have so many coffee plantations  to choose from. The beans are always Fresh roasted  and chookie they have a reward thingy so I get a freebie now and again. I figure it  also is about 50 cents a  cup. I rarely have coffee out anymore. I like my coffee in a china cup as well as my tea. I cannot bring myself  to pay $3.50 to $4.00 for a cuppa.

Wait until you see WA coffee prices Gert. $3.50 -$4 is a good deal.

I buy my coffee from one of two places. Yahava in Margaret River (they ship it) and 5 Senses which roast in Perth and on the east coast somewhere. If I order from 5 senses online on Monday it is sitting on my door by Friday having been roasted on the Tuesday.

At the moment I have a single origin Cuban coffee from Yahava. It is very smooth with hints of chocolates.

I'll try and get some from their Swan Valley site before I head down.  I am in Perth all week for work and do not want grind what I have at home that early. I will try to remember to pack my stove top esspresso pot.

Gert We have had a Jura coffee machine for 2 1/2 years and absolutely looooooveeee it. We buy coffee in 10 x 1kg bags from a coffee place in Woollongong and that only lasts us 3 months at best ! Both DH and I love our coffee !!
 

I wish I was a coffee snob. I am a tea drinker and nothing makes me more angry than going to a cafe and having to make my own cup with a small jug of boiling water, a tea bag and a small jug of milk. Why go out when I can have the same at home??? Grrrr! Give me a loose leaf jug (I've at least got one of those at home, but its so easy to give to customers and probably a lot more cheaper than bags).

If I could order a cup of tea from a cafe: they SHOULD bring it to me made up in a FINE TEA CUP (black with a small jug of milk on the side). I like one cup, but it needs to be from a fine porcelain cup and a cup that doesn't lose heat easily. Otherwise its just ordinary.

 

I agree. I do not own  tea bags nor instant coffee. Yuk yuk yuk .  To have freshly ground coffee  for every cup is  wonderful. The listening to it grind, the smell  of it  heightens the senses  and the anticipation adds to the enjoyment of a good cup of coffee.

I was lucky when I bought my house that it has a automatic boiling water system  at the sink which is just the right temp for a lovely cup,of fresh brewed tea. And DH  bought the best domestic coffee machine on the market a Swiss made Jura. All stainless steel  inside  and it produces the hottest bestest coffee .

We are not coffee snobs Dashingden but connoisseurs of fine  coffee and that does not make us bad people.

I think I will,have a cuppa  right now.

dash I am bringing a small plunger and some ground coffee from  the Tablelands.

Any luck some of the houses may have a plunger or an espresso machine.

I wish i liked coffee or maybe I just don't like cheap instant coffee.

My DF never drank coffee until he was sick and had to have a pace maker, now he drinks coffee all the time , I find it strange to make him coffee now

Coffee experts out there in forum land, I have bought lavazza coffee for our dinner guests tomorrow night. Since none of us drink plunger coffee, can I freeze the coffee for another lot of guests?

Certainly  you can freeze the coffee.

I'm getting a nespresso capsule machine - ordered it on the weekend. My sunbeam cafe machine is on its last legs, it was great value, lasted about 10 years. I only have 1 or 2 coffees a day and I just can't be bothered with the cleaning anymore. I know it will cost me more because I can get fresh roasted coffee free whenever I want - I have good friends who own a coffee roasting business. I was a bit scared to tell them about my new purchase, but they were actually pretty complimentary about it!

I'd greatly appreciate any advice on coffee machines...here's my situation:

I have an Aldi pod machine which is a good alternative (imo) to instant for when at home.
Coffees at cafes average at $4.50 here...I'm over paying for coffee at these prices when I am often disappointed.
So in doing the sums, DH & I are better off buying a fully automated machine with beans I like.
I found a Jura C9 for $1400 on sale at the moment and there is a Saeco that looks alright for about half that. Any ideas? Comments? Suggestions? I've looked on the review sites, however I really value the reviews of fellow forum members
