Dede, we ended up buying JURA MICRO ENA 1 for around $840 ( I think) from DJ. Love it. One touch button and the taste  of coffee is far better than pods ( in our opinion). We went shopping wanting to buy Nespresso and came back with JURA. You will not regret a JURA purchase.

I have a Jura and love it although I did have to have it repaired the other day I think we've had it for 3 years and haven't had any issues.
From memory it was about $3000 but like you at $4.50 a pop works out much cheaper in the long run apparently we have made 4500 coffees :-[

Suzanne,  do you know which Jura? The reviews I've read question the temperature... Is it hot?

we have the impressa S9 it has a separate milk unit that you keep in the fridge then attach with the little hose at the side

I drink lattes so it's a perfect temp for me dh has cappuccino/espresso and he has never said it's not hot enough.
When we were buying ours we went and sampled a lot of different types and this is the one dh came home with.
I would not recommend a delonghi had one once never again

I have a Jura  Impressa J 9.3 one touch and it is wonderful. You can adjust the temp which is especially good for those who like hot  hot coffee . Also great for latte and cappuccino.  This machine will last a lifetime and is Swiss made. I also like that I can change the picture on the LED display. Currently it is coffee beans. It is self cleaning.

I think Dashing Den has the same machine.

I can't remember what it cost but it was exxy. Maybe about 2500. It was also replacing top of the range Delonghi. I know that some Nespresso machines are made by Delonghi.

Jamberie the Saeco is ok. My wonderful ex son in law has one but it is all plastic and the coffee is not hot.

I would go to Harvey Norman. They have a big range and you get free coffee and demos.

I think Gert has answered most of the questions. We got the milk frother as part of the deal. Recommend you do a bit of price comparison before you head to the shops since the price seems to vary quite a bit.

That is so true. Mine came with the milk frother but if it does  not and you decide to buy then get all the extras you can including cleaning stuff. I did not need the water filter it came with.

This thread is interesting as I am researching coffee making for my B and B for next year.

This method gets good reviews but not sure it'll work in a B and B as it will get too cool on decanting into mugs.

I am not a coffee drinker so can't actually give an opinion on the finished coffee.
I had wanted a pod system but am concerned about cost and environmental aspects.

Will keep looking and reading and asking.
