Thermothingies?
« on: September 02, 2012, 04:01:01 am »
I may be a bit slow off the mark but I keep seeing the word thermothingy instead of Thermomix. Is this an unwritten rule and if I wrote Thermomix am I committing some sort of forum sin? 😱

Not at all BecciM.  I recently declared I would not use the word Thermomix as the HO in Australia is trying to get people using it in the web sites, facebook pages and blogs to remove any reference to Thermomix in their personal pages. Tag clouds are being attacked. Pages on the web are being scoured.

I know it is absolutely stupid and petty so I just said from now I  would use the word Thermothngy which the thing is. This is my small protest  against  the tyranny . Others must like it as they use it as well.

There are people on this forum with a ThermoChef and  HotMix Pro which are both Thermo cooking appliances therefor Thermothingys.

This forum is for all intents and purposes dedicated to the original, you  know what ,but our wonderful Master Moderator tolerates all Thermothingy owners so long as we do not try to sell or advertise a competitor product. I think we all know that is fair. But we do like to share our experiences and help each other to convert recipes for their Thermothingys. Everybody wins that way.

Of course some one person could set up another forum just for various Thermothingys but the wealth of information and education remains on this very successful forum.

So call it what you like. I like Thermothingy.

Becci, it would be a bit confusing for newbies and I am glad Gert has explained her stance in this matter to clarify things. I completely understand where she is coming from but it is still the Thermomix to me  ;D  Thanks for asking the question.

Was just responding to Judy how I only have a very slim window of opportunity in which I can use the Thermothingy because of the level of noise it makes. I would love to be able to use my Thermothingy all day, but can't because we live in an open plan house and the Thermothingy is too noisy. Sometimes DS3 asks me to turn it off when I'm using it whilst he is watching TV waiting for dinner.. Would love to have a house with a sound proof utility room.

Becci, I'm so glad you asked this question and Gert thank-you for filling us all in.  I just thought it must have come from your retreat!!!

I am with ya there. Sometimes I can't stand the noise so put  it into the  laundry and even the garage to use.

Becci, my kids don't mind the noise, as they know there are cakes for them every weekend in my thermothingy....

They can always go run around outside, or down stairs. :)

If I am using it when others are watching tv I usually say 'noise for 3 minutes' etc. It only goes for long periods when I am the only one round. We have an open plan living area but I think we have grown used to the noise.

Becci I guess thermothingy was a retreat thingy. I love it on my ipad as it will do it automatically for me.

I will only refer to it as a TM (basically cos it's shorter to type)

CO you can create a shortcut on your iPad.  Go to general, keyboard and follow the instructions.  Easy.
