Which gas BBQ would you recommend?
« on: September 03, 2012, 07:47:32 am »
We are about to throw out the 20 yr old BBQ and buy a new one. The array of products is so confusing. Basically, I want to take a bit of control over the BBQ since it irritates me that dh does not clean the plates believing it is fine since the heat kills everything. I have forced him to use the Magic sheet in recent yrs.

We want a medium sized gas BBQ which is mobile. I want something which is EASY to clean and which will remain in good condition outdoors (rust etc). What brands do you suggest? Don't need rotisserie but want a hood.

Courton, buy one as good as you can, not cheap. :)

We bought a really expensive one a couple of years ago with a hood. I'll check what brand it is tonight.
My Thermomix,  Kitchen Aid, Pizza oven, Nu Wave 5 in 1, Spatulas, all brings love, laughter, happiness, and great food  to my kitchen.

We have a state of the art built in bbq/ pizza oven, rotiiserie etc.

However our old bbq which is about 14 years & works brilliantly still s a Webber. It does the best roasts, its out if gas now, but its so good we are keeping it.

Beef eaters are fantastic IMO - If you're keeping out in the weather though invest in a good strong protective cover for it.

Beef Eater rang a bell, that is our state of the art one, I just had a look, we love this one too.

So 2 good brands to look at :)

My dh has a thing about weber - so at this stage it is beef eater.

What about everdure or masport?

I have had my Weber genius for 5 years. No rust left outside but undercover.  I love it.  It is the second Weber I have bought and the previous lasted many years with no rust.

I have a friend who has a huge completely stainless steel BBQ which they never use as she has to have it pristine.  So long as the  grill things are fairly clean I am happy. I never use the plate and in fact have no idea where i put it . I have a special thing for veggies.it has holes in it and sits nicely on the BBQ.

Last summer I bought a Weber Q 320...I LOVE it
its a different way of BBQ'ing as you cook with the lid down but omg the food is cooked to perfection, I have done roasts, chicken, steaks and even used it instead of my regular oven when it was too damn hot to cook inside, and have cooked normal dishes like pies, roast potatoes, lasagne in there

The large weberQ cleans itself by turning the temperature up really high, look into that one courton.

Masport and Everdure are both good names in gas appliances. Stick with stainless steel for minimal rusting in the weather.

We have the medium sized weberQ and it is excellent. Gas lasts for so much longer than you would ever expect and it's relatively easy to clean. Would use it on average 5 times a week in the summer months and probably only use one gas bottle.

Love our Weber Q.....we have the big one and the grill plates can be cleaned easily in our kitchen sink...other family members have the smaller sizes and they're great because they are very portable. We've also found some BBQ cleaning wipes to be pretty good, which is good for transporting etc

We actually have our barbecue hooked up to a natural gas bayonet outside. It sure beats bottles of gas.
