Crio bru choc truffle pots -what's for dessert?
« on: September 16, 2012, 12:54:32 pm »
DH put these together. We don't have crio bru so he blitzed some coffee beans instead, and forgot to add the vanilla paste! Apart from that it was exactly like the recipe 😉.   He put the entire recipe into two large ramekins😳.  It is really delicious - smooth and densely chocolatey (think of ganache but not quite as sweet), we only ate a bit and saved the rest (hidden from kids). I think Tenina's suggested variations would be good too.

5/5.   Thanks Tenina's. This is so easy to make my hips are trembling at the thought of too-easy rich desserts!

I made these last night. Put it into 4 ramekins....probably need to find something smaller and make 8 of them. Very rich, very decadent. Almost tasted like eating icing. Nice - but I felt guilty after eating it - rather than delighted by the taste. Who knew that was possible! Not sure I would make them again unless I could find smaller dishes and it was a dinner party.

Very simple to make, very quick and nice. Thanks Tenina

I hadn't thought about freezing - its cream and chocolate essentially so I don't see why not. Just pop them in the fridge the day I plan to eat.

Good idea - thanks. I might freeze the remaining 2.

Cheers

Wise Uni.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

They will actually keep for ages in the fridge as you have cooked the cream....just not in my fridge! I wouldn't freeze them. Halve the recipe perhaps?

Half of ours is still in the fridge. It beckons to me whenever I open the door☺.  I think small amounts would be great served with fresh fruit to cut through the richness of the chocolate.

All good advice - thanks guys. Tenina I'm always scared to halve recipes the first time, I'm not the best cook and I worry it won't turn out right. I'll leave them in the fridge and re-indulge on the weekend.

Just whipped these up for later.

Only  had 40g cri bru, also splashed some cointreau in.

Still inTM, i think I will transfer to one dish then we can spoon out as much as we want.

I tried a teaspoon, its very very rich. Love the added cointreau in it :)

Did I do something wrong, its grainy to eat?

Anyone else found this?

I didn't find it grainy but didn't put crio bru in it. Had the leftovers last night warmed up and poured over strawberries. Yum
