Hello JMC and welcome to the forum  :)

Hi and welcome to the forum.. :)

you need one.....

But why - please convince me.  It's a lot of money, isn't it, and just 'wanting' isn't enough for me.

jmc256 I think one of the most important reasons for owning a TMX is that you can save time and make everyonething from the beginning. If you like to eat healthily this is a big help. Since buying my TMX I no longer buy things like bread, jam, icecream. It gives you a great sense of satisfaction to do these things from the beginning. If you are time poor you can create a lovely meal in the TMX quickly. If you have children they will love the snacks you can make for them, the fruit slushies and custards. The TMX does away with having to stand and stir things like risotto, sauces and custards. Pastry making becomes easy.

If you let us know who you will be cooking for and any allergies etc we can perhaps help you a littloe more.

Yes its a lot of money!!!! Im in Sheffield, and I had two demos, a year apart, before I could justify it! However, it has been worth its weight in gold. I wish I had had it when I was working! Everything is so quick, and so much better. I hadn't realised how bad my sauces were before! We also have a range cooker, and have it switched off in the summer, and we can manage very nicely with thermi! I do make soups, if I buy two for one starwberries and the 2nd lot will go off before we eat them, I wizz up a jar of jam.Bread is really easy (given the breadmaker to my sister). My one downside is that the British sellers dont seem to be as proactive as in Australia...its hard to find them, and head office dont seem very enthusiastic...untill you meet them in real life...if anything, they undersell! And this site is brilliant! start copying down recipes now, particularly bafs chicken, and nay nays scones....

LOL - enthusiasm certainly goes a long way.

I suppose my background is important.   I'm a teacher, both my children are now adult so have left home so I'm on my own here.  I love cooking, baking and preserving, have a bread maker, yogurt maker, vacuum packer, halogen cooker, nice big range.  And I use them a lot!  I don't use my food processor nearly as much as I use my lovely Bamix stick blender.

And yes, I like to eat healthily.  No allergies that I know of, just likes and dislikes!
Great idea about grabbing the recipes now!  Thanks.   Just in case, you understand . . .   :D

I'm interested in the jam making.  How does the process compare with on the hob in your preserving pan (yup, got one of those too!!!) methods?  What about chutney?  And I presume it doesn't actually bake bread, but makes the dough?

Loads of questions, sorry!  Thanking you in advance for the answers.

You will find that there are lots of teachers on here, so welcome fellow teacher. :D
Quite a few are cooking for one or two people, the freezer often does well here, but it saves cooking another night.

I never made much jam before the TMX. It was too much trouble. I now make quite a lot. I find that the jam is as good as any I ever made before. We don't eat chutney but other members make it. We even have recipes for Sweet Chili Sauce, Worcestershire sauce and many others on here.

The bread dough is very easy to make using the TMX. I hardly ever made bread before because of the kneading. Now I make all the familys bread as do many other members. It is great to be able to wizz up some buns or similar when visitors are coming. Or even for the soup you have just made.

Please feel free to ask as many questions as you like. You need to be sure before you make the purchase. Have you been to a demonstration?

I'm living in Essex (no jokes, thank you!).  I don't think it is particularly big here - I've never seen it mentioned anywhere before a friend spoke about it on her blog last week (she now has one and I'm jealous!)

LOL - I'm sure you have!!  What made you move to Australia?

The friend who mentioned it on her blog has been and bought one!!!  I'm jealous!  She's promised to give me a blow by blow account of how it all goes and what she thinks.  It's all information alongside in here to help me to make an informed decision (as opposed to an impulse one).

The thing is, it's serious money and I want to be absolutely sure.  The more detail I have, the better, I think!

Well  in answer to that J

I moved to Australia on a working holiday for 6 months and basically never returned to live. I was single when I came here and initially did a lot of traveling, lucky to  have job that you can do anywhere, them met DH also from England, now have three teenagers all born here and couldn't ever see myself living in UK again.

I hope you find all the answers you are looking for here, don't be afraid to ask the tough questions, good thing is that people are so honest and open so you won't get info that is just trying to get you to buy you will be able to make an informed choice.

I think you have an advantage of having a friend who has just purchased, she can get through " the honeymoon phase" and then convince you or otherwise.   I have only had my TMX 3 months but do not regret buying it at all.  I did know quite a lot about it before hand probably because I live in Perth which is Aus TMX HQ territory!!
