Hi from Sunshine Coast Qld
« on: September 25, 2012, 10:48:10 am »
My name is Kerrin and I just want to say hi and tell you all how great this site is for me. I got my thermo last week and have been so busy, had a lot of flopped recipes but a lesson was learned in all of them and I am getting there. At the moment my biggest problem is that I have just lost seven kilos and I think I am putting them on again daily with all these slices and cakes and bread stuff that I am whipping up. I need some good healthy low fat ideas, anyone who can help me on that road I would be greatly appreciative. And I look forward to sharing with you all my many adventures to come

Hi Kerrin, I see you are suffering from Newthermothingyitis.  We have all suffered this affliction and some of us still do!

Stay away from the threads  which will make it too easy to succumb  I say. Oh wait  I think it must be most of them. Stay away from the shopping thread too or you will get  shoppingitis  as well.

Enjoy your new toy.  Just do not eat the food. LOL!

Hi Kerrin. It is a real problem, food and the thermomix. I try to only taste all the goodies I make, but then I tuck into all the delicious bread I make.
As Gert says the shopping thread is also deadly. We have all found out about these marvellous things that we just can't do without. Eg types of bread tins, dehydrators, lots of cooking books and even other cooking machines.

Welcome and I hope you enjoy the forum as much as we all do.

Welcome Kerrin.

I still feel overwhelmed by my thermie but the girls and guys on this forum are the best helpers and slowly, I'm becoming more confident.

Sorry cant help you with healthy recipes, I'm lucky enough to be able to eat pretty much anything I want without consequences :-).
I do the best I can

Welcome to the forum Kerrin.I think all forum members fall into a cooking frenzy when they first have their TM but we certainly have fun whilst it lasts ;) :D

Hi Kerrin, welcome to the forum.  It is difficult at first because you want to try everything but after a while you will find yourself cooking and not eating all the fattening things yourself.  Some of the all-in-one meals can be pretty healthy, especially Baf's chicken in the varoma which is basically steamed chicken with steamed vegies and a sauce which you can have as little or as much as you want. I used to hate Mum serving up plain, boring steamed vegies when I was at home but now find myself doing the same thing with perhaps a flavoured butter mixed through before serving.

Have you seen our review section where members post their reviews & tweaks of recipes from the books? It always pays to check there before trying a new recipe. We all have failures to start with but it doesn't take long to start producing really nice meals.  Any problems please don't hesitate to ask, someone is always available to give answers here.

Hi Kerrin! I'm a Qlder too, further north though.

Lots and lots of inspiration and help here.

My tip: continue making the yummy stuff, limit yourself to one test try and offload the rest (I take stuff to work frequently).

Enjoy!
