Malt Slice
This simply recipe was given to me by Mrs J more than 20 years ago and has been a family favourite ever since.

Ingredients
2 packets of Malt-O-Milk biscuits
180g butter
400g can sweetened condensed milk
2 tbsp golden syrup
1 large block Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate (these have shrunk over the years. You can get away with 200g, but for extra special occasions I buy two blocks, use 250g and eat the leftovers!)
1 tbsp vegetable oil

Method
Crush biscuits for 5 secs on speed 5.  Set aside.
Melt butter, condensed milk and golden syrup 3 minutes, 100 degrees, speed 3.
Add crushed biscuits and mix on speed 5 until combined.
Press into standard slice tin (base lined with baking paper).  Set aside.
Melt chocolate (I still prefer the microwave for this) and stir in vegetable oil.
Pour over slice and refrigerate overnight or until firm.
Cut into neat squares - a hot knife and ruler work well.
They freeze well - Uni has tried it.

JD - GS and I made this today.  I couldn't get the proper biscuits so just bought another brand of malt biscuits and it is really nice. I don't know how many end pieces I ate whilst I was cutting it into squares but I didn't want anything for tea.  Thanks Kimmy, this is a winner and would be nice in Christmas hampers.

Cookie - I tried this at Judy's. It is delicious.

Trudy - I've made both the plain and mint version of this lovely slice. For the mint version I melted 250grms of Cadbury mint chip chocolate.  Tastes a bit like the mint slice biscuits.

kt2 - Thank you for posting this recipe Kimmyh. It's very tasty and sssooo easy!! Will be making this for DD's school fair.
I topped it with Malteasers! 

Uni - thanks Kimmy for a very easy recipe. I halved the recipe and used homemade butter and homemade condensed milk. DD said it taste like a kit kat choc bar. I've frozen 2 pieces for testing for just over 1 month - still yum.  Super easy and super yum.

Suzanne - Yum, yum this is absolutely delicious and very easy to make, thanks for a great recipe.

Denzelmum - Made this with Yo Yo (Arnott biscuit from SA) for school fete. Looking good!

A hot knife and ruler work well CP.  :)
GHM they are Arnotts Malt-o-milk and are pretty easy to get at the major supermarkets. They are usually near the other staples like granita, milk arrowroot, etc. Some of the homebrands probably have something similar but I have never tried as I can always get the arnotts ones. The packet looks like this:

I used a 200g block CC but kept a little bit back to pour into some of the holes of a dinosaur mold I had bought GS.  When I popped the 6 of them out of the tray later I got the most beautiful thank you from him.  You have all that to look forward to.

It's great anytime of the year JD! Glad you like it. When I first started making the recipe, blocks were 250g, but they have shrunk over the years and are now 200g. You can get away with 200g, but for extra special occasions I buy two blocks, use 250g and eat the leftovers!

This slice looks amazing, especially with your perfect cutting Kimmy! ;) I will definitely be making it soon, I'm sure someone's birthday must be coming up.... no, actually, can't think of anyone, but I will find another excuse!!! ;D
