Steam oven/combi steam oven who has one?
« on: October 25, 2012, 12:15:53 pm »
I'm in the process of designing my dream kitchen for when we build and was wondering if anyone owns a steam oven or combi steam oven. If so how do you find it? Do you use it often?  I'm thinking of getting a regular oven plus a combi steam oven but would live some opinions.

Thanks  :)

I have one, have had one for a while and I use it when I am absolutely needing another oven and feeding lots of people. Invaluable at Christmas and family gatherings...prefer the results to Varoma as more even cooking results.

Have fun designing your new kitchen!

We have just finished building our new kitchen, and we have a conventional oven as well as a combi steam-convection oven.  We have done away with the microwave, and after a very short initial adjustment period, we dont miss the microwave at all.

We totally love the combi-steam oven!!!  It does such a wonderful job of steaming anything, and although it takes a little longer than a microwave, it does a much nicer job of reheating food.  And you can reheat several meals at one, unlike the microwave.  It is also fabulous for proving bread on a cold day.  Cooking with a combination of steam and conventional heat does take a while to get used to, but once you have the idea, it is really simple and gives wonderful results.

And of course, the convenience of having 2 ovens going at the same time if you need it ............ priceless.

Another thing we put in our kitchen that we have found we use lots more than we thought we would is the warming drawer ....... useful for lots more things than just warming plates!   Worth looking at one of those too.

If you are near a Miele gallery, they offer pre-purchase demonstrations of their appliances where you can go along and a chef wiill demonstrate what you can do with the different appliances, and you get a really good idea of their scope.  You also get a free yummy meal  ;)

I had a warming drawer at the previous house and don't now. I miss it.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.
