Christmas Day meal plans

 We have no idea yet what we will be doing, or eating.
Young going to their Dads for Xmas. My stepchildren have never seen their Dad at Xmas in 16 years, so very sad.
Last year we managed to get some of them to come in December and some of them in January for the very first time!

A year off cooking turkey for once seems like it could be fun.
We could have a nice bit of fillet steak from the freezer, and please ourselves, read books, and not argue over themTV remote, or have to play charades!

Like the sound of some of your meals.

My family in englad was always the full on turkey with chrissy pudding. Cant beat an english christmas

Here, its different. We go to friends, family in Melbourne, or go away.

I dont like christmas just the 3 of us, I find it sad

We bought a time share in mandurah for the  xmas week as it was cheaper than going to Bali each year. So we  will be down there & probably go out for lunch.

We have a hot lunch at Mum and Dad's, fortunately DH's Mum isn't a good cook so he's always been happy to have a great hot lunch at my Mums and then go to his families for a cold tea. We alternate tea between our place and one of the SIL's and it always cold meat and salad's. I will really miss Mum's hot roast lunch, at 80 and battling cancer for 10 years I don't think there will be many more years to the tradition. We don't have nibbles or anthing like that at lunch time just a great roast (pork, beef and turkey) and fantastic plum pudding which my sister makes.

Over the years we have had many different combinations of hot and cold lunches. I find I am getting over Christmas a bit now this year we will probably drive to my mum's house at South West Rocks and hopefully the next year we will be in England or America yay

I also think food at Christmas used to be more special, now we eat it all year round, I think as the kids get older it is not as exciting

The food we have a Christmas time doesn't really bother me since I wasn't brought up with really strict tradition.

The most important thing to me is being with the people I love

We always have a hot lunch with my side of the family, then go to DH side for bits and pieces, everyone bring a plate of some sort. This is going to be full on as dd is turning 21 Christmas Eve so will have to start to organize myself pretty soon, roll on Boxing Day

There were a few questions last year, but now he is talking about Santa

I think kids at school told him santa wasnt real, he asked me. I said dont be silly, do you thnk I could  afford all these presents, also if you dont believe you dont receive never heard anither doubt then

Hally my DS is almost 13 and I've never heard him say anything about there being no Santa, I'm sure he knows but it's something that is never discussed in our house. Our DD who is 17 gets into the spirit even more than I do and would never think to mention it's not real although she does ask me for specific things for christmas.

Haven't planned my menu yet but I usually do buffet style as too hard to have 3 courses and table service for 24 + people.

I usually do a theme eg Italian, Greek, Asian. Thinking maybe just mediteranean this year as loads of choices

Normally do 4 main style hot  dishes, a cold platter,  salads, and vegetable dishes ,

Entree is a selection of nibbles.

I am giggling too Moptop as I have had some horrible meals at mil too. But I shouldn't talk ill of the dead. Memories of Christmas past only.

I have to agree with you there Yvette. Stone fruit was such a treat at Christmas.
