Pet stains!
« on: November 01, 2012, 07:03:19 am »
Our gorgeous adorable mutt has thrown up her dry food all over our taupe carpet. I have removed the food but the carpet still has a brown stain area. Any ideas on how to remove the stain? Help!

She looks the very picture of innocence.  Not sure how to help with the stain, though.  Good luck with that.

You could try soda water courton or a mix of lemon juice and bicarb soda.

Forgot to add, make the lemon juice and bicarb into a loose paste and gently work into the stain. I got this tip from the lemon book that JD sent me. You may have to leave it on the stain for 10-15mins before removing with warm water.

Had a look in Shannon Lush book and can only find cat vomit on carpet. Dip common bathroom soap in cold water and rub on the stain. Scrub with an old toothbrush and wipe with a cloth that has been dipped in cold water and tightly wrung out. Blot dry immediately with paper towel.
If the cat eats dry food (don't know how different dog food would be) but you may find a pinkish stain remains.  In this case put 2 drop of glycerine on a toothbrush and comb the top bristles of the carpet with it.  Leave for 20 minutes , then sponge with a cloth that has been dipped in white vinegar and tightly wrung out.
This might not be of much help, but is all I could find.  Good luck with it.
She is a gorgeous

Failing all else courton, try the miracle spray.  I sprayed the dirty spots of my lightly coloured lounge rug, left it for 10 minutes then used my carpet shampooer.  When it dried, it had come up really well.

I knew there was a reason we didn't have a dog.

JD! I did use Miracle spray to remove the food as much as possible. But there is still a brown stain remaining. Thanks for all your help...will try each one and hopefully, one of these remedies will work. Thanks once again.

Mcmich, I tried the lemon juice and soda bi carb remedy on a small area of the stain and there was marked improvement. I am doing the entire stain area now. Thanks for the idea. :) :) :)
